A well run hostel by a “hands on” owner who has put a lot of care in creating and managing the place. Both the owner and his staff were all very friendly and interested in chatting with their guests. The owner actually works the day shift (at least the days I was there) so he was very present to ensure a good stay. There was also staff there 24 hours a day. Chillout Hostel had two common areas. One area was in front of the building (but fenced in and behind the secured entrance gate) and was a nice place to enjoy breakfast or coffee. The second area was in the back of the building (and also enclosed). There were also seven guest rooms, a combination of dorms and private rooms. The social scene was nice, but certainly not a “party hostel.” The common areas (particularly the back common area) and kitchen were closed off at 22:00 to ensure a quiet night. They reopened at 7:00 the next morning. I found the neighborhood to be safe, certainly safer than other parts of San Jose. There were restaurants and grocery stores with a few blocks of the hostel. The hostel was a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the city center.

Ana was very helpful and friendly. The room was almost empty so I really enjoyed a quiet night to rest of my travels. They have a space for sport and yoga mat, very good included breakfast. And everything was claen. I really liked the place.

I liked the poo and the big kitchen. Really good cooking at the restaurant. And I enjoyed the location. Big thanks to Vivi at the information desk, I got the informations I needed for the upcoming trips I did in Costa Rica. The stuf is amazing, Jesus, Brenda and I am ashamed that I forget some names. I came back twice since also the Mariposa Garden is not far away. Thanks for everything
