The email confirmation mentioned we were to call the motel if getting in late, so I called and spoke to Kate (?), who was lovely. She had the room lights on for us and a key under the doormat, since the desk was closed.

We’d stay again. You need reasonable expectations - it’s cheap for San Clemente. They’ve made it cute with extras like a tiny picnic area and dog area, nice linens, table/stools in room. But it’s old and not soundproofed. The main negative is it’s on a busy street and noise is significant. The positives are: super kind staff, 5 mins from T-Street beach, awesome bagel/coffee cafe next door.
