We had a great stay here at this family owned hotel. The staff, and Nick in particular, was especially helpful and arranged ride for us back to Montrose. This is highly recommended

We drove north from Durango on The Million Dollar Highway and stopped in Ouray. We were there for only one night but I would like to have been able to do some hiking nearby. We drove west to Telluride the day after Ouray. If you are interested in high end shopping and more commercialism, it was great, but Ouray is definitely more our type of town!

Beautiful cute town in the mountains with one main street and maybe couple more. There are no big stores, but there are places to shop and a lots of restaurants. There are amazing mountains around where you can go for a walk and hot springs to soak. I definitely recommend visiting the waterfall at Box Cañon Falls Park.

A very unique town nestled in the mountains.
A very unique town nestled in the mountains. You can feel the heritage of a long gone mining town. Beautiful old buildings and very nice people. Harleys and Jeeps are all up and down Main Street. Unless you are going into the mountains to enjoy the great outdoor a day will suffice.
Spectacular mountain scenery, excellent classical music, average restaurants, generally cordial service people. Take a jeep trip with the San Juan group, it's worth every penny. Excellent general store for a small town. Fun to walk and probably excellent hiking. Pleasant climate. Be careful not to hit the deer when driving.

Ouray is following other mountain towns in trying to be like Telluride. Off-roading is what keeps the town going, which is great if you're into it. Some good hikes. Definitely overdoing expectations for tipping. Will only be back for day trips.
Nice hot springs hotel at the edge of Ouray. Has a number of hot tub style hot springs terraced on walk ways above the rooms. The room was comfortable and had everything that I needed although dated (ie wall mounted heater/ac). Was quiet and had a nice big modern TV. Great communication from the property via text to keep guests up to date and how to use the hot springs. Staff were quick to keep walk ways clear of snow and the hot springs had heated pads on the stairs and walkways keeping them non slip which was super awesome!
This hotel is near the south end of the main street in town. The town is small, so shops and restaurants are right out the door and a few blocks down, and we easily walked to the city hot springs pools on the north end of the main street. Our room was large, comfortable, and extremely clean. Compared to other hotels where I had stayed on our trip, I thought the owner had made extra effort to anticipate guests' needs. The breakfast provided is at a local restaurant, Mi Mexicano, just a few blocks away.
The exterior of the hotel mimicked a sweet small-town cottage with blooming flowers hanging from all angles and wooden finishes surrounding the stairways and balconies. These aspects complemented the towering cliffs provided by Ouray's rocky boundaries. As for the room, we were comfortable with the warmth provided by the heating unit and we were entertained by the flat-screen TV, which had a great signal. We enjoyed our stay here and we look forward to our next overnight visit.
We had great communication with hotel staff, even though our arrival was late. The hotel was comfortable, updated and offered a continental breakfast. I appreciated that the hotel info, such as not having an elevator, was communicated clearly. The town of Ouray was idyllic, and I love that they support local (I loved the toiletries that were from another local business). We hope to return.
We stayed in the Inn/hotel and loved it! The staff were over the top friendly and helpful, we loved the ease of checking in and out, and the whole place had a great vibe. It was just enough distance from town to feel a little more isolated but close enough to not feel an ounce of inconvenience.
Hotel is in a great location, but we cancelled our room because it was terrible (the room itself was nothing like the photos and the location in the complex was awful). Beth, the manager, was helpful in cancelling the room. The hot springs looked nice, but we didn't have a chance to use.
No breakfast included. Good thing we were on back side of the lodge. Front side faces busy main road. Using the toilet is cramped as it is right next to the wall. Easy access to hot springs pool, downtown Ouray. Spent one day at Telluride Jazz Festival.
The staff was very helpful and super friendly, even in this day of short staffing and COVID. Rooms are fun Colorado cowboy rustic decor, much larger than expected, excellent king beds and a pleasant patio just off the river path. Definitely recommend.
The historic restoration was very attractive with the entire hotel is filled with period furniture and photos; so all of that was very charming. We live in Colorado and were driving the loop to see the Fall tree colors, Ouray was our overnight stop.
Great location in Ouray (a beautiful mountain town!) ; Spacious 3-bed townhouse with its own garage and a balcony with an amazing view. The place was clean and everything was in working order. Check in/check out were smooth and done remotely.
A delightful, light, spacious, clean and comfortable home from home. An easy riverside walk from Ouray, or just a few minutes drive. We would definitely stay again if we returned to the area, which is, unfortunately, unlikely.
We needed to change our date due to weather and a dog friendly room at the last minute. Nothing was too much trouble... Sonia was so helpful... a great manager. Continental breakfast was generous and fresh.
The owners obviously care about their hotel, and were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Good location within an easy walk to town. Lovely sound of the stream just outside our room.
My fiancé and I have stayed at this property a few times now. We fell in love with beautiful Ouray and loved being able to stare into the mountains while soaking in the Hot Springs.
The bed and the location are the best part of this hotel. Appreciate the thoughtfulness of putting packed breakfast in the refrigerator. The room is clean and so is the bathroom.
the St Elmo was such a cool hotel to stay - perfect location. owner had perfect recommendations for our long weekend in Colorado with sights to see and places to go.
