We had stayed at this property quite a few years before, so we were somewhat familiar with it, and also with the area. The property is a bit dated but still in a good state of repair. It was in a good location to continue our journey north into the wine country. The bartenders in the tavern were very friendly and gave us good advice about our upcoming week.
Located 20 miles away from Central San Francisco, this pet-friendly hotel offers free guest parking and rooms with free WiFi. A satellite TV is featured in each air-conditioned room at Villa Inn.

Eggs were awesome and the most important meal of the day!!!
Calm city. Safe city. Lots of options to eat and to do groceries.
We went there to visit San Francisco. We've chosen Mill Valley and Sausalito to park our car and take public transportation to San Francisco.
Best decision ever. Car remained intact. No one crashed our window and we were happy.

The unit is great for a couple, but not for more than two...
The unit is great for a couple, but not for more than two assuming the two sleep in the same bed. Otherwise a very nice place. The driveway up to the unit is very steep and could be a challenge for some people.
We went there to visit our daughter who has a small apartment and a new baby, but the area is a great place to visit in general. Mill Valley can be navigated, but road network is tricky and sometimes difficult--be sure you have a GPS with guidance if you don't know the area!

See my review.
See my review. Property is dangerous unless approached in the daytime as there was zero lighting illuminating the door to the unit or the side yard. Pitch black. Floor drops 3-4" as you step from door sil into unit. What if Mom or Grandma went in first. They would have lawsuit to deal with broken foot, leg or worse.
NO RESPOSE UNTIL TRIED THIRD PHONE NUMBER. NICE, NICE REP WHO "GOT IT". GROSS UNIT AND GROSS FILTHY OLD BEATER CAR IN DRIVEWAY OR SUPER HIGH END NEIGHBORHOOD. CREEPY!
MY PLANNED TRIP WAS RUINED AS IT WAS TOO GROSS TO STAY IN THE ICKY, STINKEY UNIT. I WAS HIGHLY INCONVENIENCED AND WILL NEVER USE BOOKING.COM AGAIN. VERY SAD SITUATION WITH THAT UNIT. MAYBE LITTLE KIDS WOULD HAVE FUN BUT AN ADULT WHO HAS STAYED IN NICE HOTELS IN THE WORLD WOULD BE THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH IT. AGAIN, BOOK A HOTEL AND DRIVE UP THERE TO ENJOY THE VIEW OR HIKE AREA.

Pictures on wed site are deceiving.
Pictures on wed site are deceiving. You can’t put lipstick on a pig and call it good. Broken doors, faucets not attached, dirty in the corners. Our first room reeks of pee. Broken down cars that have been there for years? We didn’t get bed bugs - that’s the only plus.

Hello.
Hello. We were surprised, shocked, really, that a woman with Covid was staying in a room next door at the Muir Lodge!!! The receptionist gave us NO indication or warning of the situation, as we would have been more cautious. We did not feel protected or secure. The motel should have taken better care of their other guests by at least informing them of a possible contamination. The reception simply wanted to hide this situation and was not forthright/honest, and put us all at risk.

Convenient drive to Muir Woods and to the Golden Gate Bridge...
Convenient drive to Muir Woods and to the Golden Gate Bridge park area for a great view of the bridge. Cute small town with a few good options for meals, coffee, etc. but other than that not much of interest directly in Mill Valley.
Charming hotel with a cabin feel. The view from the private balconies is outstanding; one can see over the pines to the San Francisco Bay in the distance. We could see the view from our bed and the shower too. The location is excellent for exploring Muir Woods; there is a trail head right across the street for more experienced hikers and the main parking lot and visitor center is a short (10 minute) drive away.
Easily reached by public transit from San Francisco. Lyft service available to get to mill valley and Sausalito. Good price compared to other area options. Appreciate room amenities, fridge, microwave, nice beds, tv—all very good and very clean. I wish staff had been more informative regarding questions about transportation and local destinations. Wish front desk staff had been more friendly and personable.
Wonderful view. Great location between Sausalito, Mill Valley and Tiburon with easy access to bike and running path. Brought our bicycles and explored area without having to deal with traffic. Unique experience watching how the daily tides come in and out in the area. Perfect for a couple getaway.
Rooms are nice and clean, bed is very comfortable, nice balcony with water view. Location is perfect just 3 min drive to beautiful Mill Valley downtown. Lovely restaurant "floodwater" just next door.
Great pool area, warm water and a lovely hot tub.
The staff and welcome were exceptional. The continental breakfast was the best I ever had. The town just feels tucked away from the world and the inn is just nestled in and quite cozy. The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was a banquet. Every morning we enjoyed different varieties of food. I even discovered the hotel served espresso drinks! We enjoyed the outdoor ambiance and outdoor lounge; the staff were polite and accommodating.
The location is good if you have a car. We travelled by bike and it was fine as well. But if you’re on foot, it would be inconvenient. Though it’s cheaper than other hotels in the area. And the room we had was decent.
Family run. Its close to the beach, San Franciso & Sausalito. Also cheaper than the very expensive hotels in Sausalito 5 minutes away. Also close to Safeway and nice restaurants. Comfortable for a 2 night stay.
The hotel was excellent, clean, modern with all amenities you could wish for. Staff were polite and professional. We were welcomed with a complementary bottle of wine. Will definitely return.
The staff that checked me in and took my call about the tv were incredibly polite and tried to be as helpful as they could. The location is superb for access to Mill Valley and the coast.
Pretty nice place. The room had everything I needed. The staff in hotel were very positive, helpful and polite. There are some good places around for breakfast/lunch and dinner.
Loved this hotel! Pay extra for room facing bay. Heard someone complain about noise from 101. Great breakfast, spotless room, comfy bed! Wine, water and goodies at check-in!!!
The location of the hotel was great for the activities we planned to do. I liked that it wasn't a big hotel because the pool and breakfast area wasn't over crowded.
We fell in love with this place, the view from our room, the food, the mood. It doesn’t feel like a contemporary hotel and that’s precisely what we loved about it.
