All rooms all soundproof and air-conditioned, and fitted with a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an attached bathroom. Lovely food, staff, baths, own private dining room, meticulous service and very clean area. I think it’s almost impossible to top in those regards. The room with its own hotspring was divine. The massage was excellent. Would recommend.

Guests can also enjoy the public indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and relax with a massage. A free shuttle is available from JR Takatsuki Train Station, which is a 15-minute drive away. Located in Hikone, within less than 1 km of Hikone Castle and 7.2 km of Maibara Station, Honmachi Juku provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. This 2-star ryokan offers a shared lounge. The ryokan features family rooms. The property is a historic building in an interesting residential area located near the Hikone Castle and old town district. Our host was incredibly friendly and welcoming host. It felt very special to stay here in our cozy Japanese style room.

Really loved the dinner and breakfast options. Nightly happy hour with free ice cream and snacks was a nice touch for the guest:) The daily biscuits and top up of hot and cold water in our room was awesome. Everything about the room was great (had the private onsen). Only issue was the shower had some flies so it’s awkward to shower. Staff were extremely courteous. Location was great. Although a bit far from the station to walk the hotel shuttle is able to take you back and forth on request. It’s right opposite the tourism park where you can get great souvenirs. All in all will recommend this place and very satisfied.

The Japanese-style rooms at Ryokan Tobaya feature futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Facilities for making green tea are included, and bathrooms and toilets are shared. Rooms have a traditional decor with shoji paper screens and floor cushions. The building looked very authentic and the staff was really helpful. I enjoyed the room and it was quiet. Maybe I should have taken the breakfast option.

Each room features a private bathroom with a bathtub made of Cypress wood, filled with hot water from the local hot spring. The staff was friendly. The service was great. The bath areas are clean. The food is amazing. We enjoyed our stay!

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a lift and free shuttle service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan features family rooms as well as facilities for disabled guests. I liked the quiet location, the view of Lake Biwa, the friendly staff, and the access to both public and private onsen facilities.

Guests at the ryokan will be able to enjoy activities in and around Takashima, like fishing. The place is a little bit odd yes, but it’s a wonderful example of a traditional Japanese hospitality (even if the building doesn’t look traditional… but 70s) the hot bath was one of the best I ever had in Japan and the food was incredible. And I paid only 8250 yen for a half course stay (1 person). And the owner did his best to explain everything (with a digital language translator).

The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Staff were exceptional and breakfast was authentic Japanese experience.
