Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe loved it all.
This is a very old but beautifully maintained and comfortable farmhouse, full of beautiful furniture, china, silver etc. We loved the ambience as it reflected an earlier more genteel era. It is set in a peaceful rural setting where the rest of the world is a million miles away. Our hostess was charming, informative and looked after us very well.

United KingdomSome people might find this a remote location but if you enjoy complete tranquility and the sound of Barn Owls at night under star filled skies, then you will have a lovely time here. If the taps in the Victorian bathtub could be fixed then it would transform the private bathroom into something exceptional.
A complete treat to stay in such a historic house on the England - Wales border that oozes character and history. A really comfortable night's sleep followed by a great breakfast in the morning.

It's a beautiful historic property in lovely countryside. We had a very spacious room with private bathroom next door, actually had our own staircase to room and bathroom which was good. Sandra was very welcoming and friendly and breakfast was great.

United KingdomIt does feel like you are imposing. This is very much a family home and whilst made to feel welcome we never quite felt we should be there. TV was tiny and a long way from the bed. The aerial was sat on the wardrobe and needed constant adjustment to get a signal.
Its very isolated which we wanted but others might not. Nice bedroom and charming breakfast. The room was very nice if you like Elizabethan architecture.

United KingdomThe distance from the main road was quite far and through narrow roads - not a bother for us but could be for others, especially when dark. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep, so may be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. For those who have difficulties with light pollution at night, there is a very bright light facing the house which streams light into the bedroom, even though the curtains are very thick. There is , also, a skylight that streams light into the room from early morning - the blind does not reduce this very much but wearing an eye mask solved the problem for me.
Beautiful old house with many interesting features and a very welcoming host, set in lovely countryside. Breakfast was of a good quality and very tasty. The bed was so comfortable, and the area very quiet, that we had a good night's sleep. Also, lovely hot water for the morning - not always the case at a B&B.

United KingdomNothing really except be cautious along those narrow lanes to access it. But if you didn’t have them the chances are you wouldn’t have the peace and quiet. Hay-on-Wye is close by which was why we chose it but there are other equally interesting locations within 30 minutes drive. Enjoy!
What a lovely location, though you will need sat/nav to help you! Not a sound at night to disturb you. Really lovely couple who manage to mix their life with hospitality. Gorgeous gardens. The bedroom was substantial and 600yrs old to boot but with classic country house furnishings. No need to worry about your car unless owls can unlock and drive! John and Sandra will do what they can to make your stay memorable. Went to the nth degree to provide a lovely breakfast. Stay there!

United KingdomOne very minor point. It would be helpful to have an add-on showerhead on the bath.
We were given an extremely warm welcome by our hosts. This property is so unique due to its long history, my husband & I felt very privileged to stay in such a lovely historical building. Surrounded by lovely views, wildlife & a quiet location. Breakfast was beautifully cooked & presented. Like going back in time in a good way. Thank you so much for everything.
