Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe thought we would push the boat out and both opted for a signature fillet steak in Mr Whites Chop House which is not a cheap option, sadly as we had asked for medium rare both were overdone and not cut well In both cases the sauce was almost non existent. The quality of the greens and chips however were excellent.
Easy book in, pleasant staff, newly refurbished room with quality furnishings. Well fitted bathroom. Great view over the harbour. Good quality breakfast with plenty of choice apart from the conveyer toaster which was set up too fast and too hot and only singed to outside of the bread without actually toasting the bread through (a small niggle).

United KingdomLocal town is very degraded not many shops open on a week day, quite vacant not somewhere I’d walk through with children but beach front was quite and clean There was dust on windowsill and some work being done due to upgrading rooms so expect noise from about 8/8:30 am
Close to the beach, modern interior and great facilities available clean outside On site restaurants and local restaurants were a little pricy but food was delicious and cocktails and drinks were lovely … prices similar to London

United KingdomThe parking was an issue. We were told that all the hotel car park spaces were already booked. We parked in paid parking in front of the hotel. The parking from 6 pm to 8 am is free but then £20 per day.
We spend only one night there. The room was clean and comfortable for a family of 4. Good location. You can see all the ferries coming and going. We also had good weather and could see the coast of France.

IcelandThe floor in our bedroom was so uneven that I nearly felt seasick. A pane in the window was nearly falling out. Good it was not raining or windy. The lift is very slow, small and loud.
Nice location, helpful staff. The hotel has an old nice feeling to it and the breakfast was very good!

United KingdomThe parking wasn’t great. It’s not very well signposted. When in the hotel we where told they only had 59 spaces there and they where all booked but the car park was empty. We were then told to pay for parking. For 11 hours it’s was £20.40 and for 24 hours was also £20.40. I paid for 3 hours and then asked at reception again and there was 1 space available. The gentleman registered my car. If you do plan to stay here make sure you have a spare 20 for parking you may need it.
Location was good, on the seafront. You can see all the ferries coming and going.

GermanyRoom was clean but looks like a bathroom was not fully checked and needed service staff intervention. The issue was resolved quickly but did lead to uncertainty whether we get to keep the room or be moved. No free drink or complement was offered while we waited.
Great location with sea views and a small balcony with friendly sea gulls. Would recommend it.

AustraliaToo many items in the room having to squeeze past to move around. Suggest replacing the desk chair with one that fits under the desk and the small table and easy chair are not required. Removing the items will make the room more spacious. Thanks Mark

United KingdomNothing could’ve been done better for what we needed. There was a loud & drunken wedding party taking up all the bar when we were checking in, it wasn’t the best first experience after a long tedious drive when patience had already been tested, this is obviously not the hotel’s fault. We’re all for celebrating but it would’ve been better if they were somewhere else not spilling over into the reception area!
The hotel staff were great, always greeted us with a smile and they couldn’t do enough for us or our children.

United KingdomThought it would be easy for use of the port ferry but it’s not, as the police can close the road that connects you to the port. This is not a fault of the hotel, but just for those staying for this proximity purpose, watch out.

CanadaElevator is slow but really, it is an old building and that I'd just nitpicking.
Megan at the front desk deserves recognition! She was so pleasant, helpful & professional & went out of her way to make me feel welcome & give me information about the area. I had a pet seagull (Gulliver) who visited my window each evening & listened to all my ramblings, he was lovely. The bar staff werev also amazing. The area was quiet with a great view and a short walk to busses, restaurants and the ferry. Extended my stay 3 times.
