The only downside was having to leave this slice of paradise.

The property is buzzing with history and the staff was really friendly. I will say that the hotel has a bit of a spooky vibe, but I think the power outage due to load shedding may have contributed to the vibe. we booked on a whim and were so happy to find this gem. It was an experience of its own, but close to Cango caves and everything in Outdshoorn.

Fantastic location, and excellent hosts. Room is neat with new towels and clean linen. Staying in this Hotel takes you back to the good old days, with modern luxuries you would expect such as good Wifi and an air-con in some of the rooms. Safe and secure parking behind a locked gate. We stayed over during the Meiringspoort Challenge, and the host arranged for us to keep our bicycles safely locked in the dining room of the Hotel. Breakfast included a race-pack for the mountain bikers, and the next morning we had a delicious breakfast with eggs, bacon, a hash brown and toast, together with a nice cup of coffee.

Located 500 metres from Swartberg Pass, Swartberg Pass Cottages is set in Matjiesrivier and features barbecue facilities and a garden. The Cango Caves are within 13 km of the property. The location is amazing and the food from the kitchen is great. There was no dinner kitchen when I stayed so they gave me meat to cook myself in the room and it was a fantastic experience!
