Set in Kilindoni, 5.5 km from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve, Mafia Dream Hotel offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Wonderful staff, excellent beds and a very nice swimming pool. The chef made some very good meals and the room was very spacious and very new. The staff is also very helpful if you want to explore the island. I can highly recommend Mafia Dream Hotel if you are looking for a place at Mafia Island.

Situated in Kilindoni, 7.2 km from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve, Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Beautiful bungalows with a huge garden directly in front of the beach. All the bungalows have a big glass front where you can see the garden and at some locations the beach. Incredibly nice staff - try to help and accommodate wherever they can. Could change the room without problems as I needed AC to be able to sleep (March can be incredibly hot and humid). Even came back to the hotel after diving on the other side of the island. Everything seems a bit rustic as first but you will definitely fall in love with it. There is a really really nice gift shop with handicrafts on site - really nice woman from the village, definitely one to support. The locations to the beach is super close and to the left there are two more hotels you can go for dinner or a drink. People all know each other on Mafia and help you with everything! :) Breakfast is great!

Boasting garden views, Mafia Island Bungalows offers accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 6.1 km from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve. The staff was amazing, very hospitable and took care of everything. Breakfast and dinner was great, they have a really great chef and attentive personnel. They also rented us bikes for free, such that we could drive to the dive shop (~10 minutes by bike). Great and inexpensive stay!

Kileleni has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and bar in Kilindoni. The air-conditioned rooms provide a garden view and come with a desk and free WiFi. Ali and his team provided superior service catering to our every need, whether it was last minute activity, transport or meal request. Super welcoming team doing their utmost to make us feel at home.

Situato a Baleni, il Kitu Kiblu offre un ristorante. Ogni mattina vi attende una colazione continentale. Il Kitu Kiblu vanta una terrazza e un giardino. KK is extremely tranquil and perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of anywhere else. The setting is so peaceful hidden under the high canopy of the tropical forest. The staff are amazing and so helpful with anything on the island. The food is tasty and great value. The area has no other tourists so very quiet. The outdoor showers with Kerosene heating is pretty cool too.

Situato a Kilindoni, nella regione di Mafia, il Mgeni Homestay offre un parcheggio privato gratuito. Tutte le unità includono una cucina completamente attrezzata, dove potrete preparare i vostri... Ally was extremely helpful from the moment we booked accommodation online. He was not only very responsive via WhatsApp but also gave us the right contact to organise a ferry ride to Mafia Island. We arrived at the homestay after 11pm but Ally and the housekeeper, Bunda, were there to welcome us nonetheless. The homestay is very simple but it was clean and comfortable with water and electricity at all times. Despite the heat in November, the powerful fan kept our room cool and kept mosquitoes away at night and we always had a good night’s sleep. Bunda made us a great breakfast every morning that kept us full most of the day, and he always cooked early for us so that we could eat before going out to explore the island. Ally helped us organise many activities very easily, such as snorkelling in Chole Bay and hiring a motorbike (boda boda) for the day to drive to the north of the island. The location of the homestay was perfect to have a more local experience as it is a short walk to the local town and market where we ate an affordable dinner every evening, but also walking distance from the beach (outside the marine park). Ally and Bunda’s kindness and hospitality were the highlight of our stay and we are very grateful to have felt so welcome there. Overall, we would highly recommend Mgeni Homestay to anyone looking to explore Mafia Island on a backpacker’s budget and we would go back in a heartbeat.
