El Caravelas está en la villa de Madalena, en la isla de Pico, y ofrece vistas al océano Atlántico y a la isla de Faial. I don't understand why so many people are complaining about this hotel. It is as close to the ferry terminal as you can get. , The rooms are clean and tidy. The pool has a nice view on Faial, and is beeing cleaned every morning (and they are probably the only ones having a pool in Pico anyway...) You can walk in less than 5 minutes to all the different tour operators (Diving, Hiking, Whalewatching, Rentalcars....) and restaurants. It is maybe a bit dated, but I felt like they were doing their best at being welcomig. They even organise a mini breakfast buffet from 04 a.m - 7 a.m for people leaving early on hikes or diving tours...! Keep in mind that every Airbnb in the area is more expensive , without offering you room service, breakfast or a pool area. If you come to Pico for its great nature activities, and want an easy hotel, thats your place to go!!

Blown away by the hospitality and the warm feeling that Stefan and Pedro have created. If you get the chance, don't miss the dinners that Stefan makes. We had several great moments with other guests at this hostel.

Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Relaxing atmosphere and beautiful view of the sea and Faial island on one side, and of Mount Pico on the other. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Ideal location - walkable distance from Madalena center and from several natural pools, and a 10-minute drive from the airport. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would absolutely recommend!

The location is excellent, just around the corner from the ferry, a lovely ocean swimming pool and walking distance to wine tasting and restaurants. The apartment was very nicely decorated, heaps of storage, great air conditioning, well equipped and generally very comfortable and great value for money. There was even a communal washing machine that Patricia kindly said we could use.
