Such a beautiful location and stunning views across the property, especially from the pool and patio. The room was a lovely size with a huge bed. The rest of the house and grounds were beautiful and welcoming. We loved the dining room space. The staff were great too. Highly recommend!

Went to Shimoda mid Sept which was lean season for summer adventure so less people around. It offers good beaches and many water activities. Stayed for a week which gives us relaxing time to enjoy the beach and places to see.

Great town right on the coast, has a number of great beaches nearby and beautiful rocky coastlines and cliffs to see. It is more of a tourist town though, so expect prices of things to be high. Be ready to hear constantly about Commodore Perry and the Black Ships! Some things require you to sign up or buy tickets well in advance; it's worth looking up anything you're interested in trying beforehand to see if it does.
Best coffee we had was at the Hana Cafe, best food was the South Cafe.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama. It's right across the street from a lovely beach and the breakfast was quite nice. We loved the 2 outdoor onsens that are built on the 1F. Great to watch the stars from there amidst the treetops!
Stayed twice at this little family hotel. Love the location and all the little rituals the owners have. For example, when checking out you can choose two of over 15 variants of photographs of the local nature that the owner takes himself. Since we stayed as a family, everyone got to choose two and now we have a great collection of photos of these beautiful area. The hotel is comfortable, clean and has it’s own small onsen.
Thank you for the hospitality!
There is a common area with an open kitchen where you can prepare your own meal. They have all basic tools and cutlery, plates, cups.
Location is okay, still need to drive to the beaches around but after dinner, we took a nice walk back to the hotel which was nice too. The married couple owner is so nice and made it feel like home and they are very flexible unlike those traditional Japanese hotel where they have a lot of rules.
Somewhat older property but in a stunning location and well-maintained. One negative, - access to the onsen lacks elevators and requires climbing stairs. The onsen itself is again a little dated but the location and views of the beach more than makes up for this. Our room service was superb - everything one can wish for in a onsen-ryokan experience.
There is a free shuttle service to the Shimoda train station.
not bad because I booked the room which is cheapest in the Shirohama area. It was 4 guys in my group. as 24hrs alcoholic group, we use this 4beds room just for a nap and shower. the whole day we spent at Shirohama beach. maybe there were some big rooms on the upper floor. it should be with a beautiful sea view.
and finally, the manager in this place was a very good guy.he was always helpful.thank you.
Very nice house, makes you feel at home immediately. Close to beach and cafes/restaurants (reco Sunny Side and cafe Mellow). Super pool table that guarantees some fun family moments (and nice backup in case of bad weather!) owner very responsive and available for tips. Wish we’d discovered this earlier - would have been our favorite Shimoda spot!
Excellent place to stay in Shirahama Beach. Owner was lovely, check in and out were super easy. Comfy bed. Board rentals available. Really convenient location across the road from the beach. Breakfast was nice. Great little cafe called Irie Coffee and Sea. Would highly recommend this Inn and cafe.
We enjoyed what appeared to be a traditional Japanese breakfast offered buffet style. There were many offerings and we enjoyed sampling many of the items. While the hotel was older, it had plenty of traditional character. We had a water view and enjoyed listening to the waves rolling in.
We had an amazing stay at the Gardenvilla Shirahama. The owners were very kind and also supportive in many ways. The landscape is exceedingly beautiful. You can enjoy good meals in Shimoda, breakfast at the Gardenvilla was tasty with a wonderful ocean view. Thanks 👍🏻
It has a great sandy beach below and it is ideal for all especially surfers. The room was very large offering fantastic views out to sea and down to the beach. There is a hotel shuttle bus taking us to Shimoda but we also caught a local bus not far from the hotel.
Super close to the beach (walking distance), we were able to store our surfboard on site. Parking on site and free. Onsen on site. Restaurant right next to the hotel. Great living room area to eat and chill in. Would stay again!
We went here for a weekend trip to the Shimoda area, it's a nicely decorated place in surf-style, the host was nice and even let us pick our room-style. The location is right in front of a bus stop and very close to the beach.
Location is the best to go to Shirahama beach, hot spring and facilities (teapot, fridge) are good, yukata for all guests, staff are very supportive, the view from the room is amazing and shuttle bus is very convenient.
Stunning ocean views from my room. Excellent breakfast and dinner options. Exceptionally attentive and experienced hotel staff. Lots of scenic walking paths to explore and photograph. Quiet and serene area.
Beautiful location between town and beach. Room offered ocean views. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Shuttle service to the train station was great. Onsen, particularly outdoor bath, was lovely.
Nice traditional Japanese room with a direct ocean view looking over Shirahama beach! Exceptional cleanness level. Traditional Japanese snack was prepared in the room, which is a very thoughtful touch.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The japanese room is perfect with beachfront view on the balcony. The wifi is fast. The beach is awesome for swimming with my kids. Everything is awesome.
The view was amazing! There is a convenient parking in front of the hotel. There was free coffee in the morning and the staff gave us tips and lots of recommendations.
Nice hotel by the port and 10mins walk from train station. Nice onsen in the hotel. Large variety of food for breakfast and dinner. Free bike hire to explore the town.
