The location is what really sells this hotel, lots of great restaurants and 2 minutes away from the beach. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The view with breakfast is worth it just in of it's self.

My stay at Lisbon Surf Hostel was entirely enjoyable. I needed an affordable place for two nights close to the beach. This hostel is very clean given the circumstances. The facilities were all very good and the manager as well as his staff super friendly. While I was there they hosted a large group of students and given the circumstances it was a bit noisy, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a hostel. The staff kindly warned me beforehand. The wifi works well, they offer surfing and yoga classes.
Very notable: they have an amazing table which fits 20 (?) people made out of one piece.

Carcavelos Surf Hostel is an excellent place to stay! It is in a great location: a short walk to the beach, grocery, cafes, and 10-minutes to the metro. Everyone working there made my son (17) and I feel welcome, including the owner, Jose. We have stayed in many hostels across multiple countries and CSH is very safe, affordable, and well maintained.

A Faded Jewel in need of refreshment BUT you can't take away from the beach and its amenities. Signs of new cafes and restaurants starting up, but the impression is the crowds come from the city anyway so why make a huge effort :-) There is no real centre as we could see, just a linear settlement unlike villages up the Marginal or further in towards Lisbon.EugeneIreland - 6.0Scored 6.0
Parts of Carcavelos away from the train line are actually...
Parts of Carcavelos away from the train line are actually quite nice. It's quite a sleepy little town outside of summer. The main beach is really for surfing not swimming. We were there in September and the water was already too cold. There are some nicer beaches to swim at close by but not really serviced by pubic transport. It doesn't really have a great number of good restaurants and feels a little bit like a town than the locals commute into the city from. Probably more of a day trip from Lisbon as opposed to somewhere to base yourself for a large amount of time unless you intend to surf.

A very well situated town for the ones who want to visit Lisbon and other tourist attractions. A very good and cheap public transport. Very clean, wide and safe beaches. Possibility to walk along the coastline. Numerous shops and restaurants. Helpful natives. Clean air.

We really enjoyed our stay, it is very close to beach, Riviera shopping mall and a square full of restaurants. Owners were always willing to advise us with practical information (train, bus...). The beautiful and very local beach is right in front. Carcavelos train station is a nice walk away. There is a variety of restaurants plus a supermarket just behind the hotel. The breakfast floor has a nice view of the beach. The pool is really a plus for kid’s activities. Many comments about outdated facilities. It is true, but advantages overweight this minus we felt.

The buffet breakfast was excellent with a great range of food items. It was excellent value for money being a short walk to the train station and the beach. Would happily stay here again.

A large supermarket and restaurants are within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Perfect hostel to go surfing (they have equipment for rent and provide lessions).
