We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.
We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things.
It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors.
Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.

As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit!
As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit! Plenty of tea shops in the city and if you have more time, there are also tea farms outside the city limits that you can visit. There are tours organised by the local tourism bureau, you just have to inquire at the visitors information desk.
This is a very convenient place to stay when visiting Shizuoka. The rooms are small, as in all Japanese business hotels, but nice, clean and comfortable. The bathtub is really nice! Breakfast buffet is included in the room price, and it's a very good breakfast with a good selection of Japanese and Western food. Furthermore, there is a 7-elven on the first floor, and lots of bars, restaurants and entertainment in walking distance from the hotel. Recommended!
It's pretty close to the Shizuoka Station, making things very convenient. After staying in two different hotels in Tokyo, I moved on to this one which cost about half as much as the previous two per night. As far as rooms went, this was a lot more spacious than I anticipated. For half the price of a 2/3 star hotel in Tokyo, you get a room in this hotel that's twice as big with the same amenities.
It is directly across the road from Shizuoka Station. There is an underpass where the exit is near the hotel. The room and toilet is clean. The bed is comfortable. There are many restaurants around the area, including in Shizuoka Station. Several malls can be found in the area behind the hotel. The counter staff can speak English and are polite and helpful. Will definitely return again.
Loved the free shuttle from the train station and back. Beautiful hotel with stunning views of Mount Fuji, from both the room, lobby and restaurant. Breakfast was $40 each and worth every penny! Dinner prices were out of our league at the main dining rooms, so we ate ate the off site restaurant which was affordable and the food was excellent.
Room is clean and big enough for solo traveler. Hotel lobby is at 2nd floor but it was fine for me as I do not have any big luggage. It is also very close to Shinkansen station. For those that don't like walking under hot weather, this hotel can be a bit far from the JR. But that is not a negative point as there are also bus stops nearby.
5 minutes walk from Shizuoka Station. Direct underground passage from station to the street where the apartment is. Lovely street and close to family Marr, famous ichiran and Tully coffee. Excellent location. Netflix on the projected screen made our family vacation more fun in the evening.
Was an extremely pleasant experience.
If you are travelling for work, or need a small hotel to stay for a day (or two) during a work-, city- or roadtrip, or basically want a bare basics stay, then Hotel Oak Shizuoka can definitely meet you with that. It presents a clean and easy to stay place with friendly and accommodating staff.
The room is comfortable. The window when opened offers good ventilation and lighting. From the main station you will need to either go thru the underground or so some detour to reach the hotel as there is no direct crossing available due to the bus terminal. Plenty of dining choices nearby.
The hotel is a stone's throw from Shizuoka Station, which is also in the middle of downtown Shizuoka. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. I also happened to get a room with a good view of the southern Alps and Mt Fuji.
I selected this hotel for the location. The beach next to the hotel has a great view of the Fujisan. Unfortunately I was not able to see Fuji clearly due to clouds. The hotel was clean and staff were friendly.
Everything. It was budget friendly, close to the train station, it was comfortable, friedly staff, has just all the facility that you need. Definitely will go there again if i ever back to shizuoka.
very good hotel, has even public bath!
about 10 minutes walk to the station, via the city center, many restaurants around.
Breakfast was very good as well.
would stay again, no issues!
Hotel Celeste reminds me of when I was living in Japan. It feels like coming back home with their homey room. The room is equipped with a washing machine which is very helpful.
It was about 10 mins walk from the station.
Location was good, restaurants, shops, convenience store was close as well.
Staff was very kind and cheerful.
