The suite was extensive with a huge bathroom. Rather a bizarre configuration because it comprised various parts of an old house, but very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially accommodating our having breakfast in a separate room as we weren't feeling terribly well. The grounds were lovely, too. A lot of thought and work has been put into this hotel.

Mevagissey is great but the accommodation was poor, bedding was stained and dirty and the owners are refusing to acknowledge it . This cottage owners are not good hosts . The bedding was filthy, the mattresses are so old and need to change

The town was quaint and full of history and character, very narrow streets not good for driving. The Pubs (Ship Inn) was excellent including the food if a bit pricey. The restaurants were excellent (Salamander and Polkirk One )Not cheap but good value for money. Very hilly trying to get out of town centre if you're old or athsmatic.Don't book a hotel up Polkirk Hill it's very steep.

Lovely little village and well worth a visit!
Lovely little village and well worth a visit! It has several really good pubs and restaurants. We’ve only ever been in October but I’m sure it would be lovely during the summer! Driving through the village if you need to get to accommodation up the hill can sometimes be a challenge. Just take it slow and not be in a hurry!

Picturesque harbour village, plenty of places to eat out if you book early, the Salamander was our favourite. Locals are friendly and welcoming. Lovely to walk around very narrow streets. Brilliant little coves and beaches nearby, along coastal path walks.

A last minute booking led to finding this gem, run by a very friendly couple who go out of their way to ensure guests’ needs are met and exceeded. With excellent knowledge of not only the local area but Cornwall overall.
We received a free upgrade to a larger room upon arrival, which was beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed and a lovely view at the front of the property.
Breakfast was delicious, tailored to each individual guest and beautifully presented.
We would definitely stay again.
Lower Barns is a gem! A lovely setting carefully curated by two wonderful hosts, Janie and Mike. I stayed after walking 7 days on the South West Coast Path and it was a magical spot to relax and absorb the unique beauty of Cornwall.
The room was cozy, vibrant and well accomodated. Loved the giant tub & comfy bed! Breakfast was delicious and the beautiful, unique grounds made for good wandering. Thanks for a wonderful stay -wish I could have stayed longer!!
What a lovely place! Our room was lovely, facing the sea, a good size and lovely big bathroom. The staff are friendly and the breakfast of a very good standard. Sadly the restaurant wasn't open but the bar snacks that were available were lovely. This was the most expensive of all of the hotels that we booked on our trip but was worth the extra money. It is within walking distance of Mevagissey which is a special place in itself.
Lovely place to stay, warm welcome when we arrived and our room was comfortable with smart tv great. Breakfast was first class best ever we had dinner on both evening's the food was delicious change menu daily, parking easy the Host Tam and Wes were the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. My wife and I have stayed in many hotel all over the world and I can recommend this one thank you.
Mevagissey Hotels usually have limited parking, at Mandalay there was space for 10-11 cars in the car park, which is a massive yes from me. Tina and her husband worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. not sure about other rooms but ours had a small high level window, you could see out of it but the room and bathroom were spotless. We would definitely stay there again. highly recommended.
Mike, the owner, visited on the first evening to ensure that we were happy and to answer questions, which he did. The house is excellent with three en-suite bedrooms and a big kitchen.
Close to St Austell for shopping. Mevagissey is a lovely harbour village with numerous places to eat. The hill is steep but then that is true of most seaside locations in Cornwall!
A super week.
The views were amazing. From the bed and the balcony you could see the beautiful harbour. This was the reason we booked to stay here. Breakfast was great. Lots of choices and decent portions. The host was very friendly. The hotel felt covid safe and was very clean. A short walk into the town and to the nearest beach. Handy parking space. Excellent value for money too.
The home is a 300 yr old mill house located on a narrow lane in Cornwall, close to Truro and St Austell. The property has been fully upgraded to modern standards and reflects the pursuit of quality by the owners, Denise and Vic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this unique and beautiful home. Denise and Vic are talented inn keepers and a real joy to get to know.
Loved the location, beautiful view from the room, balcony and breakfast room and only a 5 minute walk into Mevagissey. The breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh locally produced ingredients. It was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the dolphins from afar, there were even binoculars available in the room 😀
Located right in the heart of Mevagissey. Great accomodation with all the necessary facilities provided washer/dryer, dishwasher etc. Beautiful fishing village with some great restaurants and a great base to explore surrounding part of Cornwall. Loved our stay and would definitely return to The Backlet in future.
Lovely, comfortable, clean hotel with stunning views in a brilliant position. It was an easy walk down to Mevagissey which had lots of good restaurants and cafes. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and they have made this hotel a place we would definitely like to return to.
We loved our stay! The hosts were so accommodating and could not have been more helpful. The room was as described and perfect for two adults. The hotel itself was a 5 min walk from Mevagissey centre but still really quiet and peaceful. We would love to go back :)
Lovely spacious room, friendly hosts, excellent breakfast, great views over Mevagissey to the English Channel from lounge & breakfast area, helpful book of walks in the area, not far to walk into Mevagissey, very clean & tidy
The staff are amazing and the area is beautiful also a relaxing place to chill
Lovely locals and a good base to tour other area’s of Cornwall, we had beautiful weather which was a bonus and returned home totally relaxed
We had a spectacular sea view over the bay. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Location was very good with only a 10 minute walk into Mevagissey. Also a good starting point for a coastal walk.
Nice clean bright room with comfortable bed. Great location, 5 minute walk down into the harbour area and about a 8 minute walk back up, it’s fairly steep but not too bad. owners are very friendly.
