Breakfast and choice was great. Location spot on central for a great shopping experience. Any one travelling by train is on the doorstep not that you hear any trains. All in all a great hotel and staff so friendly.
Would definitely stay again.
Hitchin is a lovely market town. Some of the shops have closed down since my last visit, which is a shame, but the pubs and selection of restaurants is outstanding. The atmosphere is always great in Hitchin and the people are extremely friendly.

Hitchin is a great vibrant market town with an abundance of independent places to eat and chill. There are also the major chain places to eat and drink if you are a little less adventurous. There are plenty of open spaces and playgrounds for the little ones. You can sit in the town square, relax, have a drink and watch the world go by. The locals are friendly and happy to chat and help. The train station is nearby and you can be in the centre of London in under an hour.

Lovely old market town with historic buildings, very grand looking church and a large interesting looking market. Quite lively at night and easily accessible by train but station is a mile or so walk from the centre.

Based on a previous visit I loved Hitchin.
Based on a previous visit I loved Hitchin. However the weather was so hot that this time I spent most of it sitting in the dark in my friends living room trying to keep cool!!

Hotel nice worm welcome but needs more security at night...
Hotel nice worm welcome but needs more security at night because kitchen staff wonder in to young girls bedroom at early hours in the morning 12.30am to b more accurately with out there permition young girl very frightened my son was head butted by a member of the kitchen staff because he was protecting his girlfriend from intruder nothing was done about this bad end to a lovely wedding want be going back .
Room was nice and warm. Water and toiletries provided with a few biscuits to nibble on. A nice touch with a mint chocolate each on the bed.
Very close to where we going and very close to the town. Thought there may be a problem with noise as our room faced the road however we didn't notice any traffic noise. Breakfast was good served nice and hot. Came into contact with 2staff who both were very pleasant and friendly.
This will be our new go to hotel when we visit Hitchin.
After reading the reviews during my stay, I was so glad I didn't read them before staying.
Yes there is need of a lick of paint etc but it's over 300 hundred years old.
If you want modern then stay at your Travelodge/ Premier Inn etc
This hotel has character, it's clean and comfy and the situation is perfect, right in the middle of Hitchin.
The staff are helpful and lovely and I will be returning.
It was also -1° when I stayed and the hotel was lovely and warm.
It was a lovely hotel to stay and perfect for the nearby wedding we attended. The room was a little small, comfy and cosy. Loved the bathroom and shower was ace! Tea and coffee with kettle in room was a nice touch too. Definately needed first thing in the morning before breakfast. Breakfast was superb. It didn't come with booking but reasonable price.
Fantastic room. Old world charm and four poster bed were ideal for our romantic Anniversary getaway. The facade did not do the hotel justice. The restaurant area was really elegant with the main area and bar demonstrating really old world charm; low ceilings, tudor beams and old English beauty. Parking was perfect and breakfast was excellent.
The hotel is in one corner of the jungle very far from the town center. The room carpet had a lot of stains, bed was old and not comfortable to sleep in. the staff don't care about any feedback.
The hotel is ideal for wedding guests, I would next time stay in the town center which was lovely with plenty of eating options.
A stunning property in an easily accessed location. Convenient for our wedding, Hitchin and Luton airport. Kind hosts welcomed us early to allow us to prepare for the wedding. Very much appreciated!! Instructions and keys/gate code clear and straightforward.
Very close to the high street, so can get noisy, but also easy navigation back to hotel if you get too messy. 👍
Gorgeous scenery, I strolled around for hours just looking. Very quaint little village. (:
Room was adequate for one night stay. This is an old hotel but facilities were ok. Breakfast was lovely and the whole place felt safe. Hotel was very close to my venue so was perfect.
Breakfast was good and in a pleasant room overlooking the attractive garden. The location was convenient to Hitchin. The beds were comfortable and everything very clean.
Great historical building in the Heart of Hitchin. Beautiful preserved historical features inside and outside the building.
Very helpful, friendly staff.
