Pen-Y-Worlod Cottages has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, set in Abergavenny, 48 km from University of South Wales - Cardiff Campus.

Had a wonderful stay at Pen-y-worlod cottages. Stayed in a one bed cottage whoch had everything you would wish for and had the most wonderful sky light. Arrived to a candle burning and a bottle of wine on ice which was such a thoughtful touch. Beautiful setting and really lovely owners, Alison & Dean who were so helpful and welcoming, honestly it couldn’t have been more perfect. Location was amazing only difficulty we had was deciding on which walk to go on!

The scenery round about is lovely; it reminded me of trips to Dartmoor when I was a child. I had the unpleasantness of it raining for many, many hours on my way to Abergavenny and through my night there.

We've been visiting Abergavenny for years and it's always been a warm, friendly place. Sadly some of the big retailers have moved on, but there are still the very useful mountain/outdoor shops you need, plus major supermarkets, and a new generation of independent retailers too. More eateries have sprung up, including some very indulgent patisserie shops! The castle is well worth visiting, and there are some self-guided local walks you can find in leaflets that will help you find your way round the town to enjoy its many green spaces. Linda Vista Garden is beautiful and well worth visiting, especially for the brilliant Ambika Social cafe in its grounds - amazing coffee! Ambika is open Thurs - Sun, and also on Bank Holiday Mondays. The theatre offers a varied programme, and you can usually find a tribute show or two on offer. Aber is in easy reach of the Brecon Beacons, and Big Pit (Blaenavon) is close by too and well worth visiting.

A lovely traditional market town, with a pedestrianised high street. A wide variety of independent shops with a good selection . Abergavenny is surrounded by gentle hills that are just inviting you to climb up as a family or individual. The autumn colours were glorious. You can also walk along the river. Whilst a small town it boasts a theatre, a cinema and a large covered market so there’s plenty to do as well as enjoy nature. It is very well connected by train and a mere 25mins from Newport from where you can go just about anywhere. Only 2h20 to London . Will definitely go again and spend more time .

It is a nice place, but don't factor in to long for meandering through a little town center for artisan shops - it doesn't take too long to do. Good options for food....and absolutely encourage anyone to go to the food festival when it is on. Lovely area.

Loved the pub by the train station, the gentlemen there were kind and helpful on a rainy night when the local taxis were too busy to help out of town visitors. Loved the Lamb and Flag Inn and Restaurant which had very good service and delicious food. My room there was extremely comfortable. The WiFi was good, the view was lovely, and the bed was just right. I was very surprised to see that there is a charging station for electric cars in the parking lot which will be a real blessing to anyone who drives those vehicles. Abergavenny has some of the nicest people! Because the taxis were so disappointing I was left accepting the kindness of strangers and a fellow train passenger made sure I was comfortable at the pub while she walked home, got her car, and drove me to my hotel! She stayed and ate dinner with me and we laughed and visited like old friends. In the morning I got a taxi but the driver didn't listen when I said arthritis keeps me from walking well but I did want to see some of the town on the way back to the train station - she dropped me in the middle of town assuring me it would be a short walk to the station. Nearly two miles of pulling my luggage across cobblestones I discovered yet another wonderful woman in Abergavenny! She saw me struggling and pulled her car out, loaded me and my luggage into it and drove me the rest of the way to the train station! People are still willing to go out of their way to help others and Abergavenny has a goodly supply of such people. Oh, and the folks at the Greyhound Rescue thrift store are delightful! I drooled over the selection in the window of the hat shop, and I would have loved to visit with even more of the adorable dogs so many walkers had with them. It is a great town.

This is possibly the best B&B we have ever stayed in. The location is perfect for walking around Abergavenny and for visiting other parts of Wales, but most importantly is our hostess Gaynor who helped us find interesting trips to take. The accommodation is really luxurious with a spacious bedroom and really fine bathroom. Although the breakfast is Continental, the grapefruit and local bread and marmalade was certainly enough for me. Parking was also very good with spaces behind the house. So thank you Gaynor for a really wonderful break.

Hosts were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Bubbly, strawberries and brownies on arrival were a very welcome treat. The whole property was spotless and the patio/jacuzzi area was lovely. Lounge has two cozy and large settees which felt luxurious, loved the beds! Small children will love the private play area lots of toys and room for them. Finally All the facilities tick all the boxes and there are some lovely walks, golf and Abergavenny nearby.

Beautifully decorated and furnished house, lovely and clean and perfect for a family of four. Instructions for check in and out were very clear. Hosts were very kind and left snacks for us - the Welsh cakes were great! Parking was very simple of the driveway at the front of the house. And as a bonus the views of the area surrounding Abergavenny were stunning. An amazing place all round!

Easy to find, superb location, right next door to the local market (four days a week) Breakfast was extremely good with a choice of cereals, fruit and main course. The Indian restaurant where breakfast was served, also served first class meals at a good price in the evenings. Good internet connection and the best choice of channels on a hotel TV I have seen in a long time.

Nice quiet surroundings and very close to the town centre. Pleasant and friendly hots. Very nice cooked breakfast served up by Lynne. There was also a choice of fruit, pancakes and cereals. Tea, coffee and orange juice provided. A good place to stay if visiting the local area and the Brecon beacons.

Beautiful garden and views - we sat outside on the patio. Soft, comfy beds. Large living area. We were there with 2 couples and 2 young children and the walls were thick, which was good! Good kitchen/BBQ facilities. Nice soft carpet on stairs good for toddlers!

The location was brilliant. The staff were amazing, especially Will who went beyond the call of duty to help me out. The room was basic, but excellent value. The restaurant is surprisingly sophisticated, and has a menu based on Indian cookery.

The cottage is convenient to Abergavenny and within a short driving distance of many local attractions. There's a Waitrose just down the road to stock up on provisions if you stay for several days as we did.
