We had booked the hotel not knowing our car would break down on the way. We called to say we would possibly come in later and were told they would wait for us. The next days we needed some help in contacting different garages as we do not speak French, and without hesitation they helped us contact them. Excellent customer service.

We have come to this hotel before. We just feel at home here. Everyone is especially welcoming, and yet we are totally free to explore from there.

Really lovely garden room with view over the garden and lakes. Nice continental breakfast delivered to the room. Comfortable bed and good shower. Michelin-level restaurant meal was excellent. Would be great for EV charging (if we had a Tesla... which we don't!)

It is a relatively small city but has everything to offer.
It is a relatively small city but has everything to offer. The fresh markets are fabulous. It is connected to the bigger cities by train so easy to get to. Visit the tourist office on the banks of the river and get the self-guided walking tour map - leads you to a beautiful visit of the city.

Saintes is a really interesting town, well worth a day or two of exploration. There are historic buildings in the town centre and a (mile or so) walk to a roman ampitheatre, which was being renovated when we visited and another large church. The river Charante runs through the middle of town. Just beware, though, on a Sunday evening almost all the restaurants/ bars are closed so ask beforehand if you want to eat out

Quaint mid-French town on the banks of the Charente.
Quaint mid-French town on the banks of the Charente. Lively along the river banks but away from they’re much more classy and sophisticated with a busy evening scene including live music and excellent restaurants and bars. Only stayed one night en route from the Dordoigne to Brittany, but managed to fit in the Abbaye and the Amphitheatre, both of which I would recommend. Stayed at the Hotel Messageries - highly recommend.

It was easy to find and welcoming when you reached the Reception. We asked if there was a nearby restaurant and was immediately directed to a beautiful little place, which allowed dogs too. (A real bonus) . The room was very clean and had a country cottage feel with pale blue painted furniture. Made a change from the normal plain, impersonal chain hotel rooms.

There wasn't a great selection of restaurants in Saintes and our dinner was a little on the miserable side. But the town was beautiful; the river; the amphitheatre; the Roman antiquities. We would definitely return to Saintes again and probably stay at one of the modest hotels in the centre of town.

This "hotel" is just about OK if you are needing to rest overnight but do not pay for breakfast - it's very poor! No bar and just an awful TV area nowhere comfortable to sit and read- we escaped for an hour or so. Drive on or if staying in Saintes stay central there are some great hotels in the old part
A little non chain hotel just off the motorway. We just needed somewhere to break the drive from the Med to St Malo. This hotel was much nicer than anticipated. Lovely comfy rooms (we had the ones with a terrace). Friendly and helpful staff.
The breakfast was good with home made cakes, cheese, cold meat etc.
There is a restaurant next door that was OK too.
Much nicer than the usual chain hotels off the motorway.
If you need somewhere for a night to break your drive I highly recommend this hotel.
My son and I had a very pleasant nights stay in this ibis hotel. It was a fantastic location for us as a stopover as we were driving home to the UK from Spain. 5 minutes from the nearest motorway junction. The team was extremely nice, fun, helpful, professional and accommodating. I have stayed in a number of ibis hotels and would have to say the team here were the best. I would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to friends and family.
This is not a luxury hotel but it does exactly what you need, a clean confy bed when you are travelling long distances. We arrived at 1:30am because our channel crossing was delayed. We had a password, got into our rooms, one next to each other, at ground floor level and the car parked in front of the rooms. The rooms were clean, the bed confy and we were allowed with our dog. It is all we wanted at a great price!
Needed somewhere to stopover for the night. This is about a 5 hours' drive from Caen. On the outskirts of Saintes in a pleasant and quiet area with good free parking at the door. In a charming old house of several other apartments but with private entrance up external stairs. Small but with everything you need and clean and comfortable. Good communication and instructions from the owner.

Good value for money, very clean and good location if driving. We were in an electric car and appreciated the easy access to chargers in the nearby supermarket carpark. Efforts have been made to reduce single use plastic. Electronic check-in worked fine.
We had no interaction with staff and no breakfast at the hotel.
Located within easy walking distance of pedestrian centre of Saintes, next to the Abbey. Hotel feels a bit of a rabbit warren, up a few stairs, down a few stairs, watch your head, mind the ramp but room was pleasant and en-suite bathroom was adequate.
Free parking is available but is limited.
charming hotel, great location in centre of Saintes with easy access to shops and restaurants. Very helpful staff. Room comfortable and quiet. Great place to stay for our stopover. Secure parking. Did not have breakfast so can’t comment on that aspect.
Great location for a stopover on a long journey as the hotel is just a couple of minutes off the motorway.
A 15-20 minute walks puts you into the lovely Saintes town center which is well worth a visit.
In reality a former Premiere Classe hotel, refurbished and upgraded. Basic but clean, with friendly receptionist, safe parking, restaurants around and just 5 minutes from downtown Saintes
great position overlooking the river. we were able to take our dogs into the downstairs bar which was a bonus as we stayed in December. Paid undercover parking very close to hotel.
I like how natural this property was. It is actually a home with rooms like a hotel. The owners are delightful and the food homemade. The rooms are very comfortable.
