Merrill House is a boutique hotel, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay. I felt like was staying at someone’s home! The staff are exceptional. Friendly, funny and charming. We are definitely returning for longer this time. Our room was clean, the assortment of robes was a bonus. The bed quite comfortable. We also had dinner at Merrill House and it was impeccable. They were great accommodating my dietary restrictions.

Gorgeous place with a fabulous restaurant and amazing staff. The room was outstanding, super comfortable bed and great ambiance. We were there for the eclipse and was the perfect place for it.
On average, it costs $236 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Picton for tonight. You'll pay around $222 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Picton will cost around $174, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
The restaurant at Merrill House has an amazing chef.
The restaurant at Merrill House has an amazing chef. We had an outstanding dinner and breakfast. Food was like music in my mouth. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The Inn is a beautiful old mansion with cool modern art. Pictor has a lot to offer and so close to many attractions. Would recommend lake on the mountain, sandbanks and waupoos winery.

To be honest, there were not much restaurant so, the price is a bit higher and difficult to find the place during the pick time.
There is one steak restaurant recommended by hotel, I had horrible experience.
The price is very high comparing the portion of the food and unfriendly staffs. (I prefer the KEG)
For the next time, I don't want to make the hotel reservation in Picton. I would suggest to go to Kingston instead.

It's a nice place. Nice and clean.
It's a nice place. Nice and clean. It's an old house, so the floors squeak. Not a big deal. It is a self check in and check out. I know there were "owners" there, we saw them when we arrived, but that was it. The phone left as contact did not answer. Emails about early check in were not replied. We checked in about 2 ours early and it was fine. Simple room (yellow rrom - twin bed and private bathroom) but they didn't mention the bathroom was in the hall, not in the room.

We enjoyed Picton. Recommend Royal Hotel for a great meal!
We enjoyed Picton. Recommend Royal Hotel for a great meal! Our lodging was far less than we expected and what we paid for, however. Electrical and fire hazards were among our concerns. There should be a way for our concerns (as explained in more detail in n the review of the Stone Carriage House - Barouche Suite) to be registered so that others who come after us don’t experience the same problems.

Such a cute town with many boutiques and restaurants!
Such a cute town with many boutiques and restaurants! Houses are beautiful to look at, walk around and take photos! Cute park nearby to picnic or sit and watch boats! Town is near by foot or car. Would go back!
Great restaurants like the Spanish one and yummy ice cream at Slickers!
The property was perfect. It was maintained to the highest standard and fitted with everything you would need for a weekend/week away.
Located on a quiet street, walking distance to shops, restaurants, the marina and lake front seating. Only a short drive to many beautiful areas of PEC. Beautiful private outdoor space to enjoy coffee/glass of wine I. the sun or shade.
Communication with property manager and owner were excellent.
The room was massive and modern. The ease of check in was amazing. However the thing about this place is the small details. Nice hardwood floors but the thoughtful touch of having a thick carpet just under and on either side of the bed so when you get out of bed in the morning you have a soft landing. Fresh flowers in the hall and room. Truly this is a 5 star hotel for a reasonable price.
As soon as we arrived we felt spoiled! It is so picturesque and the hospitality is far more than above and beyond. The house is so welcoming and well furnished and at every turn we felt more than looked after. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and the maple syrup made at the property was delicious!! We will definitely be returning and I will be telling friends and family to visit!
We liked the location of the place. Only 20 min from sandbanks beach and in the lovely village of Picton. The place was overall good. We stayed at the motel room #15. It was clean, well equipped. There’s a little shared kitchen outside for the 3 hotel rooms. It is fully equipped and very clean. That was really nice to have.
The 1885 is a beautiful guesthouse, inside and out. Barry was a welcoming host, the architecture and decoration is full of character, and the suite we stayed in was comfortable and had every amenity needed.
The backyard garden is also lovely and very tranquil. Overall, a wonderful stay!
Great location that is a nice walking distance from downtown Picton. We loved the charm of the place and the backyard which had a pool. We loved the fact we had breakfast vouchers to try different breakfast places in Picton. Our favourite: Picton Harbour Inn
Convenient location to cycle paths and minutes away from downtown Picton. and of course Sandbanks. Being able to make morning cafe, toast and keeping juice & milk in the half fridge made organizing for the next day easy.
The apartment is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. It' in a great location in walking distance of downtown Picton. The hosts live on the property so are easily available if needed.
Merrill House is beautiful inside and out. it’s very conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Picton. The service is exceptional and the food delicious.
Wish I had used the patio and BBQ area. Would definitely stay again. Brian generously offered his park pass for the Sandbanks, which saved us $20 on parking
the area is beautiful and close to the quaint downtown shops. it was spotless, the ac made it the perfect temperature, and it was cosy and comfortable.
