Stroud is quite a big town in Gloucestershire and, as such, it has all of the shops and amenities one would expect. Plus, with a taxi rank, train station and frequent bus services to/from Cheltenham and Gloucester, among other places, the town is well connected. I would recommend it as a base from which to explore Gloucestershire.

Vibrant, friendly and historic town full of stylish places to eat and drink, unique gift shops surrounded by beautiful countryside. Local bus service was also very reliable on the Saturday ( well - better than my own at home anyway!). Public toilets in the town were clean and convenient.
I was on my own but felt safe even at nighttime.
Would recommend the indoor market, Stroud Bookshops, as well as Cornflower and Calico for kitchenware gifts. The Coffee House and Curio Lounge Cafe Bar were great places to visit as well.

Amberley Inn was in a village outside Stroud, the area was very picturesque and plenty to do in the area. The Aboretum at Batsford was exceptional with lovely autumn colour and the Cotswold Villages are a delight.

Went to watch Giffords Circus at Minchinghampton Common, the show was fantastic and the atmosphere great, ate in the local pub, good food but a tad on the expensive side.
Lovely area of the Country to visit
The hotel is lovely, it's in a very quiet and beautiful location with plenty of on site parking. The staff were very approachable and welcoming throughout our stay and the room was clean with a lovely view. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was very nice too.
The hotel is in a great location for visiting Gloucester, Cheltenham and the surrounding area, it has some nice pubs for food and drink locally too.
The room with ensuite bathroom was beautifully decorated, spacious and had everything we needed and more! The host Abi was wonderful and helpful and so friendly yet also allowed us to have our own space when needed. The house resident Bassett hounds were an added lovely bonus - they were so friendly! Bed was really comfy too - couldn't recommend more if you need somewhere to stay in Stroud
Though next door to a thriving pub, our stay was quiet and restful. It is so handy to have the pub next door with its excellent menu. The village location is pleasant and walks are easily accessible. Easy access to Stroud was a reason to choose this location, and the drive (short route on Sat Nav!) was interesting for its narrow lanes and picturesque villages.
Our stay at the Burleigh Court Hotel exceeded the (already high) expectations we had for our trip to the Cotswolds. The location is stunning, the staff was very friendly and helpfull with good suggestions for local activities and places to go to. The gardens and many places to sit are superb. We can highly recommend this hotel for your trip to the Cotswolds
Well-situated in a heritage area, close to the town centre, public transport and other local services. Comfortable, warm flat with quiet neighbours, good facilities and pleasing views to the hills and Severn Vale. Particularly liked the canal-themed photos on the walls. Provided a welcoming 'second home' during my stay.
Beautifully decorated and well equipped, comfortable and welcoming. Right in the centre of Painswick with a lovely view over the church/churchyard and Painswick Valley. Parking free and the Falcon were generous about being able to leave the car there after check out and before leaving Painswick.
Spacious two bedroom apartment with separate lounge area and well designed kitchenette. For the space, the accommodation represents reasonable value for money and it is dog friendly (but you will have to eat out for breakfast or pack food). Friendly staff and pretty good pub food downstairs
Everything we needed was there, it was very comfortable, warm & clean. Great location for centre of Stroud & canal walk. good car park. excellent accessible provisions - so thoughtful. Lovely outside seating area.
The location was amazing. I walked back to Stroud, it was stunning even in February. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The building is very attractive. The bedding was lovely, high quality. Great bed.
The accommodation provides everything you need for a getaway. The views from the accommodation is exceptional, the location is great for exploring the area and shops and restaurants not far away in Stroud.
Great location, apartments were nicely sized and clean. The host was very accommodating and spent lots of time helping to arrange our stay and also to give us tips on what to do in the area.
The room was very well appointed, roomy and very clean.
The Bear Hotel has a lot of character and doesn't feel crowded as there are a number of nice areas to have a drink or a meal.
Cottage for three had plenty of room and nice big window seats to set our luggage. It was quiet and dark at night. Staff was very helpful to answer our questions.
