Featuring free property-wide WiFi, a spa centre and a seasonal outdoor pool, Matsushima Ichinobo offers accommodation in Matsushima. The room (I had the basic level option) was gigantic for Japan, with a huge picture window and a view to die for. To say I was blown away upon arrival would be an understatement. The hotel is spacious and uncrowded. I suspect it caters almost exclusively to the Japanese market so some instructions were on rather informal notes, or simply only in Japanese. The rate is breakfast and dinner included but also includes unlimited alcohol from 7pm and coffee/tea/refreshments all day with an icecream bar in the late morning and afternoon. The silence and sleep quality was superb as was the bathroom with shower.

Boasting a garden and a shared lounge, Hotel Ubudo is located in Matsushima and is 900 metres from Entsuin Temple. We like everything about the hotel.

Tokinenoyado Yunushiichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. The hotel itself is really nice. Staffs were great. They have good English speaking staffs for foreigners. Our room was nice and clean. Most likely recently renovated. We booked half-board and enjoyed dinner and breakfast in a private room, in the old building. Onsen was also nice.

かっぱの宿旅館三治郎 features indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and various facilities including karaoke rooms and a sauna. The staff was exceptionally nice and welcoming. They were prepared to deal with guests of the world via technology and an open-minded attitude. The food was a delicious collection of the local ocean's best and the service excellent and friendly. We had an amazing time there, especially for a first stop on our Japan journey. Thank you! :D

Featuring indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, free Wi-Fi and a restaurant, Chikusen Mt. Zao Onsen offers luxurious Japanese-style and Western rooms. Excellent service, good food, very nice room and onsen.

Located in Sendai, TAOYA Akiu offers 4-star accommodation with an open-air bath. This ryokan provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and a lift. Everything and also the superb buffet breakfast

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Tabist Business Ryokan Duck Ishinomaki Hebita is situated in Ishinomaki, 37 km from Shiogama Shrine and 49 km from Sendai City Community Support Center. Great value for money. The host was very welcoming and we had a really nice conversation via google translate that felt like we really connected with her.

Matsushima Koumura provides a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 10 km of Shiogama Shrine and 24 km of Sendai City Community Support Center. Beautiful, traditional ryokan not far from Matsushima Station. You can get to the main attractions in Matsushima on foot in about 20-30 minutes comfortably. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating. Great experience!

Located right in front of Matsushima Bay, Komatsukan Kofu-tei offers accommodations with free wired internet access. The staff were very nice and friendly. Also, the view from the room was gorgeous, since it's very near in Fukuura bridge, it can be seen from window. And the breakfast was delightful. A great experience and taste of a formal Japanese breakfast.

Kesennuma Plaza Hotel features a sauna and free private parking, and is within 13 km of Osabe-minato and 47 km of Ichinoseki Station. The room in traditional style was huge, with beautiful view. The hotel is on the hill, parkin lot is at the foot of the hill, there's an elevator directly to the hotel. They have nice onsen.
