She stayed up for us (late flight and check-in) and took the trouble to explain everything to us. Excellent breakfast with a nice view. Overall, a homely and unique local experience that we really enjoyed.

It was a nice hotel for the price, they offered to make up the room everyday and if you put a do not disturb sign, they would still provide you with a change of towels and trash bags. Check in was quick and the staff were very helpful. The sento was normal.

Kyukamura Nyuto-Onsenkyo is set in Senboku, within 18 km of Tazawako Station and 23 km of Lake Tazawa. Our stay at this beautiful hotel was just FANTASTIC. The location is wonderful, in the middle of the forest in a wild environment where the silence is king. The staff was very professional and gentle, and above all SMILING. The kitchen was very good and the buffet was entirely worth it. The structure is modern but well integrated in the magic athmosphere of Nyuto Onsen and our experience was authentic and breathtaking. The passport which allows you to travel around the Onsens is just WOW. Absolutely to reccommend. We stayed here one night from the 20 to the 21 of November. Michele from Italy

Hotel Folkloro Kakunodate features air-conditioned rooms and free private parking. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Each room has a flat-screen TV. You will find a kettle in the room. Loved every bit here. When I arrived it was snowing in beautiful fluffy flakes❤️ It was literally 20 steps from the JR train exit to the hotel entrance, so even in a blizzard you’d be able to go back and forth without problem. Staff struggled with English but solved this with a simple instruction card, it was very cute. They did their best and everything was completely clear. The room was very big compared to other places I had been with a sofa and coffee table that seat 2 people easily. The bath was very enjoyable, breakfast was small but delicious, the smoked fish was really good. You have a view of the square in front of the train station so lots of things and people to observe. I really recommend staying here as the town has interesting history itself but also has a good and fast connection to Akita City.

The hotel was right outside the train station, literally a 10 seconds walk. Location is fantastic. The room was also very clean and comfy and spacious. There is also a restaurant in the hotel for meals. The breakfast is buffet style, maybe abit basic but was nevertheless great. Was buying the akita inu plushies at the in house souvenier store in the hotel and the staff was patient with us, she took a few out and let us choose the ones we wanted to buy. Really like the Japanese hospitality experienced in the hotel. There is nothing to dislike.

Great space in the house, multiple rooms on the ground floor including the kitchen, everything is neat and clean. Koh-san always goes above and beyond: this time, he helped us buy tickets for a performance (which required research and dedication!), and also with a hotel reservation needing phone calls. Thank you so much for all your help, and we hope to be back again one winter -- Akita is our favorite prefecture!

Everything was convenient, clean and pretty, but above everything else was the owners kindness. Constantly present and helpful, they were a delight and an absolute pleasure to chat with. I intend to come visit Akita again, I don't know when, but I'll make sure to come back to this hostel.

We arrived late but the warm reception with a complimentary ramen, which is only availble from 7-9 pm, was a delight. The hotel is old but well maintained. The toilet and bath was newly renovated and very clean. The bed was comfortable and conducive to a good night sleep.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and the hotel was in a good location - there's a Lawson across the road, and there are drink vending machines in the hotel itself. There are also some good sights nearby - the Akita Inu museum and Odate castle ruins are a short walk away.

The room was spacious and well kept, and the facilities were perfect. However, what I found the best about Tazawako Lake & Onsen Resort was the staff. We spoke very little Japanese and used a translation app, and even then, a wonderful gentleman at the front desk spoke excellent English and accommodated us with such kindness! Our main reason for staying was to be able to attend a fedtival in Kamihinokinai. We hadn't realised the trains stopped running and nearly gave up hope, but he helped us organise a taxi from the hotel and back again. We had all but given up on being able to get to the festival, but he was incredibly kind and patient and worked beyond expectations to help us attend! The staff were wonderful and made the experience 100 times better. Also, the breakfast buffet and view of the mountains in the snow were 10/10.
