Quietly located in western Iceland’s countryside, this hotel is 2 km from the Grábrók volcano in the Borgarbyggd District. It offers free Wi-Fi, outdoor hot tubs and individually decorated rooms. Really a nice farm in Iceland. You can see cows, ducks, pigs, and sheep. The restaurant and the breakfast were very good with some of their products. The meat is really delicious. The staff is young, smiling, and kind.

Special mention to receptionist Anna who made us fish and chips for dinner and gave us many recommendations to explore the Snæfellsnes Penisula. She even helped us to find the northern lights at night!

Basalt is a special place in a special country. Owned by people who grew up in the very valley in which it is nestled, the care in everything they do can be felt. The location is a bit remote but so beautiful and well worth the short drive. The architecture of the restaurant is magnificent allowing fantastic views for dinner and breakfast--and the food was some of the best we had in Iceland. The main concierge/clerk/waiter is a treasure. Knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again.

Located on Snæfellsnes peninsula, this hotel offers an in-house restaurant and rooms with mountain views and free WiFi access. Stykkishólmur town centre is a 25-minute drive away. The rooms were very clean, modern, well designed and comfortable. Breakfast was great with a good variety of options. The staff was friendly and virtuous. The location was remote and excellent for northern light watching.

Luxury beds and power showers are offered at Hótel Egilsen. Baldur Ferry Terminal and boats to the West Fjords and Flatey island are 300 metres away. Wi-Fi is free. Lovely small hotel in a beautiful location. You can park next to the hotel for free, the breakfast is good and the shower is one of the best we have had here with good pressure.

We spent the day going up to Reykholt and Husafell, then stayed at Hotel Varmaland before heading to Snaefellsness Peninsula the next day. It was a beautiful hotel; the views from the dining area were fabulous. Food was excellent.
