The cottage was beautiful with new equipment, set in an excellent mountain location. What stood out were the wonderful owners who made us feel incredibly welcome. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of hummingbirds. Too bad we were only here for one day; I could easily imagine staying a few more days. I warmly recommend it.

Local organic food that goes from farm to plate was delicious (i.e crepes with home made chocolate really surprised us). If you love nature or you are just looking for total tranquility, Macaw lodge shall be part of your consideration. You need a vehicle with high ground clearance to get there (unpaved roads).

By far the best experience we had in Costa Rica. The view from that place, the room itself, Esteban and family, the food - all of that was amazing. There is access to the river with a little patio where guests can enjoy a cool bath and the beautiful view from the valley. The way to get there is a little bumpy, but worth it (you pass a couple waterfalls). Esteban is incredibly helpful and will proudly show you the place and his hibiscus wine! creations. The room has a wonderful view and you get to see lots of birds (toucans, hummingbirds).

Very easy communication and friendly hosts. The sound of the wind through the trees and the cool temperatures were a perfect respite from the beach!
