It matched my expectation - including the location, nice host, lovely room, and especially the heater! It's been really cold in New Zealand (of course because it's winter) but the hotels we stayed were usually not warm enough even with the radiators on. But staying at Alice Garden was really warm, first of all, and plus cozy and pleasing.

It had views over the lake, a cosy wood burner and was walking distance to town but felt more rural. The beds were very comfortable and everything we loved. The kitchen was well equipped.
