Went in May and it was easy to book accommodation and get around. However Lake Louise Gondola doesnt open till end of the month-old Banff Gondola open year round. Best meal at the Train Station where we ate outside and watched the Rocky Mountaineer arrive. Visited the lake by Parks bus as it's $ 21 to park and only $ 11 by bus.Beautiful lake with lots of walks from it.Best to go early to miss crowds. However the routes are quite steep ! Imagine it will be packed out in the summer.

It's a gorgeous looking place on a sunny day, though expect everything to be expensive. Watch where you put your feet though - the ground isn't necessarily even, and if you stumble and twist your ankle it can be a slow painful hobble back even to the bus stop (been there, done that).

We preferred Lake Moraine to Lake Louise.

We preferred Lake Moraine to Lake Louise. The colours of the lake were more spectacular and also mountainous too. We drove our car to the park and ride spot on the highway near the village to get the shuttle bus to Lake Louise ($3pp). If you do not get to Lake Louise in a car before 8am, the road closes off to cars so the shuttle buses is the only way there. Unfortunately when we got there, we were told we had a 2 1/2 hr wait in queues to get a shuttle bus to Lake Louise. There were 6 empty shuttles sitting in the car park and they were only leaving every 15mins apart. absolutely ridiculous, why they didn't put people on shuttle buses to cut the long queue is hard to fathom. This took the edge of the entire day. Hope this system improves. To get to Lake Moraine there was a 1hr wait for a shuttle bus. ($2pp) Once there the Lake we thought was more spectacular and scenic than Lake Louise was. 3 1/2 hrs waiting in queues took the edge of that day. If you are not staying at the Fairmont Hotel at Lake Louise, then its just a lake and hotel and thats it. We spent about 1 hr max there as we wanted to see Lake Moraine too. This had to be done before the last shuttle bus takes people back to the park and ride near Lake Louise village. Hopefully they will improve as the year moves on.

Comfortable and quiet room, nice living room and good facilities (kitchen, lockers, laundry). Useful information about the local bus to lake Louise (price: CAD 2), which stops just in front of the hostel.

The hostel is well-run by Lars, who gave us a warm welcome upon arrival. The 12-bed dorms are actually split into two parts with 6 beds each which provided a more private and quiet experience than expected. With no electricity, no phone reception, and only 1 hour wifi per day, the hostel forces you to disconnect and instead enjoy the nature, the sauna, and each others' company. With only around 20km to Lake Louise, it is the ideal base for exploring some of the highlights in Banff.

The staff here is wonderful and the views from the hotel are amazing. Great access to hiking! The food is also really good. We had room service, breakfast and a dinner at the Lake Louise vista restaurant

The hotel and it's grounds were beautiful! We were on the Fairmont Gold floor and food there was outstanding! The trailheads for several iconic trails start right next to the hotel. The serenity of spending the evening in an Adirondack chair, with a glass of wine in hand, whilst looking at the stunning Lake Louise and listening to the lovely singing voice of Alanna.

Came here for a bachelorette and honestly the kitchenette in our room was a huge sell. It was really nice to have for late night snacks and for cooking ourselves some breakfast before we went out for the day. The location of the inn was also nice since it was close to Lake Louise, Morraine Lake and the ski lifts. We also walked around the area and explored some bars from another hotel across the street that were really nice too. Loved the location, free and easy parking, and worth it for the price. Would definitely stay here again :)

This hotel is conveniently located right off the Trans Canada Highway, as you turn off to Lake Louise. There’s a service station and convenience store directly across the street. The town’s information center is within a five minute walk. Restaurants and bars within 10 minutes. There’s a laundry room facility onsite.

The Hostel staff was friendly and helpful when checking in, giving us good suggestions when we asked for hikes to do. It was easy to find our room as well and we liked the location for visiting Lake Louise. The bathroom was clean and always available when I needed it. The restaurant in the hostel was amazing and was fairly priced. It was too busy to eat at for our one night for dinner, but not too busy for breakfast thankfully. I think if you are familiar with hostel stays, this is a great option.
