A smart country hotel in a great location close to a waterfall and with lovely walks nearby (saw deer roaming nearby). On North Coast 500 route. Sat in relaxed lounge and taken through to dining room when meal ready (hotel offers a 3 course dinner or extensive tasting menu). Food was of excellent quality and well presented. Well appointed rooms.

The room was lovely - warm, bright, big and lovely view. We had the fish and chips two nights in a row and it was absolutely excellent!! Can honestly say it was the best fish we’ve ever had and we are in our 60s. 5 min walk from train station and 5-10 min walk from town. Also had fantastic Guinness!

It was nice to have a historic building keeping some of its original features, the staff were excellent and helpful. The room was large with a very nice bathroom. The food (dinner) was very tasty served quickly and hot, breakfast was great too.

Room was spotless, bed was very comfortable and dinner was just what was needed. The macaroni cheese came highly recommended and it did not disappoint.

The house as a whole was spotless and well appointed. Our room was very comfortable, with a lovely view of the water. While every aspect of the stay was wonderful, best of all were the hosts who were just spectacular. They were welcoming and so lovely to talk to—they offered first rate tips and kept our spirits high in spite of some troublesome travel mishaps. Thurso was our first stop in Scotland, and Westlea set the bar high for every other stay to follow. Thank you, Michael & Corinne!

Food was really good, staff very courteous and friendly. Room was tidy and bed comfortable. Small TV in the room which I could not get to change channel but that didn't bother me a lot. Staff were able to direct me to the local chemist as I had left my toothpaste at home and they were quite chatty, recommending which dishes to try on the dinner menu.

Driving up to the hotel we knew we were in for a wonderful stay driving through the trees to an idyllic setting. Our room looked out on the gardens and the river to the right and from the roll top copper bath ( though bath is not the right word as it was HUGE)😃you looked out on the that very view…gardens, woods and river…bliss. Staff were so so friendly and attentive in every way. Food was beautiful dinner and breakfast. Just a wonderful experience for us both on our 30th wedding anniversary a stay we will always remember with a smile.

Comfortable beds, lovely rooms and wonderful staff. Dinner was fabulous-from the bar and appetiser through to petit fours, it was a 5 star experience. The host who greeted us each evening was very professional, amiable and attentive.
