This is a proper countryside stately inn. It’s the sort of place that you could put your family up if there was a wedding you had to attend locally, and you wanted a decent place that was central and you could meet and socialise outside of ceremonies.

The view from our room was lovely and the staff at the waterhead Inn were friendly and very helpful. It was very dog friendly and our doggo got his own sausage for breakfast which was a nice gesture! The food was also delicious for us humans, we had our evening meal and our breakfast there and were very happy.

The breakfast was well cooked and just a sensible sized portion. There was a good selection of buffet items and the coffee was hot. The guest house was centrally located for both the town and lake. The views over the hills and village from our window were amazing.

Stayed there when I was younger as my father was a colleague of the owner, Mr Tansey, so knew what to expect. My mum and dad stayed there, and the adjacent Rose Cottage, many times during their life together, and it was our aim to lay their ashes to rest on the adjacent Latterbarrow Hill as this was their request. Staying in Barn End flat also brought back fond memories for myself also of the numerous times I've stayed there and accompanied them on their walks up Latterbarrow, Hawkshead and The Drunken Duck Tavern
