This Icelandic horse farm provides accommodation in Haukadalur Valley, 90 minutes’ drive from Reykjavik. Overlooking Geysir, it offers a guest lounge, garden and horse riding tours. The common space is homey, everything is clean. Location is good if you’re planning to go around Thingavellir/Geysir.

The Barn is located near the village of Vík between the Mýrdalsjölill Glacier and the southern coast of Iceland. This hostel provides free WiFi and complimentary parking on site. More like a hotel than a hostel, lovely room, fully equipped kitchen, great shared private bathrooms, local to black sand beach and Vik, great bar too

Set 26 km from Kirkjubæjarklaustur in the South Iceland Region, 40 km from Fagrifoss, Hvoll Guesthouse features a barbecue and views of the mountain. Systrafoss twin falls is 24 km away. Well equipped kitchens and spatious common/eating room. Enough shared bathrooms. Location good for us as a stop on a long journey from Selfoss to Vatnajökull; itself, it is in the middle of nowhere, but that perhaps helped us to enjoy even more the polar lights we saw in the evening. (And as a bonus, our room was next to a side entrance to the building.)

Bakki Apartments & Hostel offers dorm rooms and self-catering apartments by the sea in Eyrarbakki village. WiFi and parking are free. Reykjavík city centre is a 50-minute drive away. Helpful reception, good communication. Room close by which was very quiet. Beds were very comfortable and showers were great. Showed the care and attention to detail that made it a great stay

Set a 10-minute drive from Jökulsárlón Glacier, this farm hostel offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and mountain views. Iceland’s Ring Road is right next to the property. The staff is absolutely amazing there and always ready to help! They even helped me out taking out my stucked car of the snow with a tractor! And gave me a lot of tips on how driving in the snow properly. This was the highlight of our stay: the people who work there. Also, the pizza we had at the dinner was so good - I mean, really good stuff. About the room, everything was tidy and clean, the shower is great with the right amount of water pressure and temperature, it has a heater to keep everything warm and the beds are nice.

Located within the famous Golden Circle sightseeing trail, Héradsskólinn Historic Guesthouse overlooks Lake Laugarvatn, Hekla Volcano and the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier. The staff was amazing and the location is beautiful our room overlooked the lake.

Overlooking Höfn harbour and with views towards the Vatnajökull Glacier, this hostel features a guest kitchen and laundry facilities. Of only all hostel were like this one!
