Hafnarstræti Hostel offers capsule sleeping pods in Akureyri. Guests can choose from single or double bed capsules. Free WiFi is available. First time in a capsule hostel and it was great. Didn't feel like a hostel at all because of the privacy in the capsules. Capsules are good sized, equipped with TV, can be locked etc. The whole hostel has a great layout, check in system, facilities and all. The kitchen is professional grade with a walk in fridge. Location is great. The owners know how to run a hostel.

Situated in the centre of Dalvík, across from the harbour, this family-run hostel is 45 km from Akureyri. It offers free Wi-Fi, a communal kitchen and individually decorated rooms. We stayed 4 nights in a very (very) comfortable and spacious room. The kitchen, toilet and bathrooms were nearby, clean and cosy. It was raining 3 of the 4 days we were staying in Dalvik, but because of the tips of Thor (middle name, can’t remember or pronounce his first name ;) we felt instant at home and had a great time. The beach, rivers and mountain are close by for a beautiful walk, there’s a second hand store in town and a charming little museum. And ofcourse Gizli, the little cafe with the locally famous fishsoup. We ate it more than once. Would like to go back there someday, best place in Iceland thusfar!
