Sandra's Backpackers is set in the centre of Thurso, the UK’s most northerly town. This simple hostel offers rooms and dorms with free Wi-Fi, shared bathrooms, free bed linen and towels.

Each of the dorms and rooms at Sandra’s Backpackers has a TV, and either a double bed or bunk beds.

I really liked the location, friendly staff, huge cozy kitchen where you can cook anything you want, and meet and chat with different people. If you don’t want to cook, then there is Chinese cuisine and traditional English dishes right a stone’s throw away. The price and quality of the provided conditions correspond to the price. Thank you for the warm welcome, the rest was positive. I advise!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

The owner is very friendly and will always be available to help you in case of need. The hostel is well located within the center of Thurso, close to coop supermarket to buy groceries that you can easily use with the kitchen. The rooms and overall structure is safe, warm and cleaned daily.

It was a great option to travel on a budget. James was very friendly when he showed me around. It is nice that the room has an en-suite-bathroom and that there is a kitchen in the hostel.

The owner is a very helpful man. The common room was large and also acted as the kitchen and breakfast room. There were facilities to have cereals with a fridge stocked with milk etc. As a Youth Hostel it was very good.

The best hostel on NC500. I stayed and the kitchen was amazing - complimentary snacks and drinks was unexpected part of the stay.

The young manager tries his hardest to make everyone comfortable but is defeated by the age and condition of this property. It was good to have a kitchen available to cook our meals but it is so old and worn, could not read the oven and cooktop dials, that it is not a pleasure to stay here. We won't again and would warn all those who are not backpackers on a budget that this place will shock you. Our bunk room was deceit, shower passable, beds awful and old.

Staff was friendly, and free parking was available close to the hostel. The available laundry service is cheap.

Convenient location, friendly owners, cheap, good range of food for breakfast. It's a hostel not a hotel and as a hostel it provides a good service.

It is a very basic backpackers hostel but it was clean, had a comfortable bed and a good shower. It was a simple place to spend the night and I met some lovely people who were also staying there.
