Alex kicsit beszélni magyar és segített beszerezni miccs húst, pisztrángot, kukoricadarát puliszkához egyenesen egy százéves vízimalomból, eljött velünk a piacra és megmutatott nekünk egy kolostort valamint a 659 éves jódi fatemplomot is. A település egyik attrakciója a gőzüzemű kisvasút, a Mocanita Maramures, ami ottlétünkkor (februárban) hétvégéken közlekedett. A vonat a Vázer-folyó festői völgyében tesz meg 24 km-es utat.
