The farm is surrounded by ancient-looking walls out of lava stone, and boasts an equally ancient-looking lookout tower. My kids did love the cat that came visiting frequently

Situated just 23 km from Pico do Carvao, Casa Branca features accommodation in Lagoa with access to a garden, barbecue facilities, as well as a shared kitchen. It’s a beautiful house with a big backyard, the room and bathroom are both very clean and comfortable. The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming, they went out of their way to make us feel at home. We cannot recommend it enough!

Featuring free bikes, the eco-friendly Herdade do Ananás is located in Ponta Delgada, 2.9 km from Portas da Cidade. Great 3 nights here! Very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was to die for! Will return on all our trips to Sao Miguel.

Centrally located in Sao Miguel Island, this property is set in the quiet area of Vila Franca do Campo. Spacious villa with everything needed for a comfortable stay, surrounded by banana trees and pine apple green houses. Especially I liked the ocean pool - perfect spot for a dip into the fresh water. This picturesque property nestled in a rural town. we enjoyed rainbows, cows and goats on rolling hills, and a beautiful sunset. A uniquely stay with charm, relaxation we needed post wedding!

Situated in Ponta Delgada and only 11 km from Pico do Carvao, Monte Ingles features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Monte Ingles is a beautiful, secluded property in the country, but within minutes drive of the capital city of Ponta Delgada, consisting of a heritage house, riding stables, arenas and meadows, with a lovely private garden. The owner, Carolina, has done extensive renovations, making the house up-to-date while retaining the charming original features. Our ensuite rooms overlooked the garden, were immaculately clean, and well-provided with extra pillows, top-quality linens, towels, etc., and included extras like heated towel racks and towels for us to take to the beach. The shared kitchen, dining room and sitting room were all well-equipped and very comfortable. Carolina was a great host, giving us lots of valuable information on the best restaurants, beaches, hiking trails, etc. and each of her recommendations was spot on. Thank you, Carolina, for sharing your lovely home with us (and for the riding lesson that was one of the highlights of Dana's trip!) - it was a pleasure to meet you and we hope to return soon!

The Convento de São Francisco is a built in a 17th century Franciscan convent. A wonderful place to stay, tranquility, picture perfect, home-made breakfast of local products, friendly staff, architecturally restored with respect to the original building, great little village 5 minutes walk full of activities that equal what's available in the city, highly recommend to stay here rather than Ponta Delgada which is reachable 20-25 mins by car if needed - would return to stay at the Convent without question.

A former summer house, Quinta da Abelheira offers an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a large lawn area. It is located in Fajã de Baixo, 4 km from Ponta Delgada, in Azores. the view and the rooms are amazing

The Quinta de Santa Clara is a cozy property, 22 km from the famous Lagoa do Fogo, the highest lagoon in São Miguel Island. This accommodation is a perfect place if you want to have on one hand peace and quiet in the morning/evening and on the other, a very convenient starting point to travel around the island. It is very spacious, air-conditioned and nicely furnished. The beds are very comfortable. You have access to the pool and sunbeds and a washing machine. Each apartment has its own terrace. Towel service is provided daily, together with dark towels for the beach/ hot water places around the island. There is a daily cleaning service. They give you a welcome carton of milk and some local bread. A bottle of filtered water is also provided daily. You have a tea/coffee set as well. They have a couple of orange trees in the garden, but it was not the season for oranges when we stayed there. But we did use lettuce and herbs to our salds every morning! Paulo Roberto who introduced us to the place, is very professional, helpful and resourceful! He gave us all the necessary tourist info and tips how to get the most out of the island as we were really into visiting every corner of Sao Miguel. Communication process was very smooth and effective; Paulo responded immediately to all our messages before our stay. There is enough space for everybody to park the car and it is conveniently located - just a quick drive from the airport, the center of Ponta Delgada, a supermarket, a pineapple plantation and some beaches. The one we recommend is Agua d'Alto Beach in the south of the island. We are definitely going to come back, especially that we had 11 sunny days on Sao Miguel, which added up to our amazing experience! Thank you!
