The Undiscovered Asian Capital
Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.
I like many places in Taiwan both natural and meseum.
I like many places in Taiwan both natural and meseum. Maokoong gonderla , Beitou Hotpring (should prepare swimming suite), National Palace mesuem- there is a lot of beutiful art to see. I went to Jiefen old street, the view is very attractive. I think the MRT transportation and bus is very convinient and cheap. We also found many kind taiwanese that ready to help you when you get lost. I with family will be very happy and will go back again. : )

Although the city got cleaned up and modernized a lot, it still has the magic it had around the millenium. It;s a bit like Tokyo and Seoul but Taipei has that perfect vibe of hard work, fun and tollerance that you cannot find elsewhere...

First visit and love love love Taipei. Friendly locals - got lost in a lane and a guy asked me to follow him to the main road. Even my rubbish Mandarin got me through as most people had pretty good English. Clean, safe and nice vibes!

Stayed 8 nights in Taipei did not travel out due to the earthquake situation. Taipei's Night Markets are over rated. I have been to 6 different Night Market they practically sell the same kind of food and not necessary as tasty as some of the You Tubers would like you to believed. There are better tasting stores than others but nothing really to scream about. But I loved their Pineapple super sweet eat it everyday . It is fairly easy to travel around the city in public transport.. I have been to Yehliu, Houtong, Yangmingshan National Park.,Jiufen ,Shifen Waterfall and Pingxi Sky Lantern. Fisherman Wharf and Keelung for seafood. Really wanted to experience Taiwan's unique Night Market Culture but was very disappointed.

People are friendly and willing to help.
City roads and stations are cleaned.
Only food, perhaps it's not suitable for someone like the healthy style because a majority of them are oily.

The room was awesome, we were 4 and was very spacious and great, the only problem was they dont speak english at the reception, it was very hard to get directions for places only one lady spoke and she was helpfull. the location is not the best but it was ok
Room was clean, bed and pillows were comfortable. The duvet was nice and fluffy and the sheets were very clean. The hotel provided all the basic amenities in the room including toothbrushes, comb, shower cap, etc. We had a nice view of the park across the road. Hotel located conveniently near metro station and multiple bus routes w bus stops in front of the hotel. Also very near to a 7-Eleven so it was convenient to get drinks and food. Hotel is located by a main road and it was easy to get a taxi.
Large room, clean, very nice staff. Specially the guys at the door of the hotel. Such nice people. Good isolation in the rooms. My room was next to the highway and didn’t hear anything at all. I had a Taipei 101 view :)
Close to the hotel you can take the bus to Jiufen also close is a cultural center and some very nice cafes if you walk about 15 mins direction the Banaan line station. If you walk a bit further you have Matcha One café, expensive but soooo nice!
The historic Grand Hotel is a cultural landmark, and our suite did not disappoint in any way. It is a beautiful hotel and appointed in high style, from the extensive breakfast buffet to the hilltop grounds. Of all our interactions with staff, the most impressive were the Concierge staff, who were unfailingly courteous and knowledgeable and gracious in helping us to resolve a variety of travel issues. It’s a lovely post from which to explore Taipei!
Location very strategic near MRT station where you can go anywhere in taipei. Staff is really helpful, we want to change room because ourfloor have renovation and staff immedietly change our room. Have FREE laundy room so we dont bring many dirty clothes back home. Breakfast muslim friendly they will make non-pork food if you ask staff. Hotel also have massage chair for back and foot. Will recomend every collagues and family to stay in this hotel!
I stayed in multiple hotels in Taipei. This is the one. Great bed, good-quality sheets, comfortable pillows, high ceilings, nice tub, nice shower.
I loved the room. It had all the niceties (switches near the bed to open/close blinds) while also taking care of the basics. Compliemntary mini bar and snacks. Lovely views of the park and Taipei 101.
If you're considering the Grand Hyatt, choose this hotel instead (unless you want the pool).
The location was perfect for getting around Taipei by foot, bus, or MRT and also the rest of Taiwan, including the airport, by train. It is also right next to Ximending, so you are right in the centre of historic Taipei, shopping and street food. The hotel room was spacious and breakfast was excellent. The rate was reasonable for Taipei. Each floor had an ice and drinking water machine to fill our water bottles.
OBSESSED with this hotel. GREAT staff. Great rooms. Spa amenities were amazing. Lovely location. I like that they offer a shuttle service. Whoever does the staffing does a great job - kind, polite and nice people no matter what job they did! The staff also spoke GREAT English no matter their role. This was nice as they could offer me good recommendations for things to do. Treat yourself and stay here.
We love staying here, the window room with a city view. So comfortable, clean room, good bed, fresh AC, and excellent breakfast. Family Mart is a nearby hotel. The thing we love is that we can use the washing machine and dryer for free. Nice staff, and please consider if you come with a car, parking space is limited. If you come with MRT, you need to walk 9 minutes to Liuzhangli station.
The hotel is very impressive. Our room on the 19th floor was large, nicely furnished, very comfortable, and with fabulous views over the city and the river. The hotel is a stroll from the Songshan MRT/TRA station, so it's convenient for travelling around Taipei and beyond. In particular it is a breeze to get to Keelung and the other northeastern coastal and old mining areas.
The hotel is really close to Taipei Central Station, Taipei City Mall exit 15 and Ningxia Night Market. The rooms (I experienced two of them) were clean and with all amenities you would usually need for a stay in a low-budget city hotel. A safe, blowdryer and bathroom accessories for instance.
The staff was very friendly and they kindly accepted to store my luggage for me.
The hotel is conveniently located at Taipei Main Station which is very accessible to Metro and HRS.
In addition, there are alot of food options located around the hotel and it is walkable to Ximending too!
The concierge staff is very helpful and nice.
The room is neat and clean per the photos listed.
Great budget hotel conveniently located at the center of Taipei city, bus stop is right next to the hotel, lots of eateries across the street on Yanji Street, friendly staff, great public space for work and social, clean facilities, has washing machines and dryer.
The location is great. Only a few minutes walk from Taipei Station Exit Z6. Opposite a good size park and 5 minutes walk to the MRT station. Easy to find restaurants, cafes and convenient stores. The size of the room is big enough for a hotel in the city centre.
Great location near Taipei 101 for a great price. It is a budget hotel so no lobby, no swimming pool and no complimentary breakfast. These were not important to us since we were sight seeing and only needed a clean and quiet place for the night. Near metro.
The location was great and the staff were friendly. Room size and layout are similar to other hotels at similar price ranges (typical Taipei lower budget hotels). Lobby has some nice cold tea which was great to get refreshed after a long day out.
Room is very clean, even toilet also, looks like newly renovated. In budget hotel got elevator this is the most important thing, really good for this.
Cleaner also very friendly, she chatted with us when we check out.
awesome breakfast. right next to MRT and close to local park in the heart of Taipei. excellent staff that helped with luggage storage, taxi coordination, and recommendations for local adventures.
Reasonable underground hotel in a busy area of Taipei. The rooms are ok for a budget solution to explore the city. Free amenities are provided and coffee/tea are available for guests.
Big windows 😊
Quiet and calm location with breakfast shops nearby. Near garden.
I like the scallion roti with ham and egg from the cart nearby the hotel.😊
