Interesting city with a lot of history and traditional architecture to explore. People are friendly. Exploring the Medina is most and do not forget to bargain on whatever transaction. Recommend using Bolt for whatever transfer in Tunisia.

You must head to the Medina.
You must head to the Medina. It is a maze of narrow streets and packed with shoppers. The stroll in there alone is an experience.
Expect to be pestered a little but just walk on if you don't want to be invited into the little shops to buy something. It's a fun experience.
Try a Brik. It's a fried doughnut which is just delicious and cheap.
The people are generally incredibly friendly and curious but be aware of the odd gentlemen who claims to work night security at your hotel and starts to accompany you around the medina. This happened to me 3 times by 3 different men. They have the same story.

Tunis is a great place to experience Arab culture tempered by French finesse. It is easy to get around the city on foot, tram or taxi. Lots to see and do. It is also not far from other amenities and historic sites.

The medina is an interesting way of spending a couple of hours with a nice cafe above where you can look over Tunis. Taxis are the best way to travel around and there are plenty. Lots of places to eat. I think as a tourist in Tunis you just need to beware of
being ripped off by being over charged at almost every point. Other than that it’s a very interesting place to visit and actually very cheap!!

Tunis can be a gem for a visit in itself and a great starting point for day-trips to other destinations within easy reach. Some caution should always be in order when walking around the city, trying not to stand out like the tourist who has just arrived that very morning and taking care not to show any valuables.
Taxis are great to move around, as they are incredibly cheap, and the drivers are usually honest and helpful.
Do not hesitate to try the food of even some less than glamorous establishments, as you will often find excellent dishes there at a very low cost and with very hospitable hosts.
Mr. Mohamed (hotel manager) and his team are wonderful people. They are really great, professional and do more than what is requested from them. I was heavily sick during my stay and the hotel team was like my family; they extremely took care of me and they got me doctor and medicines. The only hotel that I will stay in whenever ever I visit Tunisia is this hotel. Words are not enough to thank this team and hotel... you were so good with me...I really appreciate it and sincerely thank you from my heart. I wish you success and healthy life
Delicious breakfast! Room was clean, and bathroom had lovely smelling shampoo and body wash with large cozy towels. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is in the medina but near the entrance and easy to find. The hotel, which was formerly a residence, is beautiful and we enjoyed talking with the owner and learning some of its history. We plan to return to Tunisia and will definitely stay here again.
Great location in the heart of Tunis. Room looked over the Medina gates, with double french windows to let in the atmosphere & local hubbub. Room size was adequate with a small desk (I was working), & a fridge. Good breakfast.
The hotel is quirky in a good way, good value & clean, plus the staff were very helpful, sorting a long distance car when my transport fell through.
The hotel was perfectly placed for an overnight stay to connect to an international flight. They arranged a driver to pick me up and drop me off at the airport. Dinner was wonderful and breakfast, just as good. The staff were SUPER accommodating and organised a driver to take me to Carthage for my brief but fulfilling morning in Tunis.
The hotel staff was very helpful and not pushy. The breakfast had a relatively wide offer. The security guard at the door could get us a really good offer for a taxi (25% compared to without his help, there is very different meter rates for tourists apparently). The location is really central, close to many restaurants and the Medina.
An absolutely beautiful hotel just outside the medina. Lavish walls, lavish surroundings and an amazing rooftop. While the WIFI wasn’t the best, the staff were caring and helped us out with our stay enormously. Would recommend to anyone who wants to spend their time in Tunis in a beautiful, old, grand house.
We loved the Carlton hotel in Tunis , The staff were amazing -really friendly and polite throughout the hotel went out of their way to assist , the breakfast was very good and tasty , excellent location , our room was clean and comfortable.it exceeds my expectations for three star hotel .
This little hotel is really like a nice arabic riad, what an autentic piece of history. Enjoyed the atmosfere and the kindness from the staff.
Perfect location in city centre, deliscious breakfast and fast wifi.
Would love to come back next time in Tunis…
The house this hotel is located in is amazing & beautiful both outside and inside the rooms! Single rooms were reasonably priced compared to a lot of other options in Tunis. Breakfast was great. Staff were extremely kind. Hot water & clean bathrooms!
Ines in the reception is super nice and patient. Truly appreciate her professionalism in helping the customer! the hotel is right by the waterfront with great panoramic view of Tunis. very good breakfast. super nice service overall from all staffs.
Hotel is un the heart of the centre. Hotel is very nice and the hotel staff very friendly and willing to help. Especially madamoiselle Emna was very friendly and gentle. Thank you so much. We will be happy to book again when we come back to Tunis.
The owner was punctual and very helpful. She even got us a microwave from her own home when we needed one.
The appartement is clean, well equipped and very well located in a quiet neighborhood, a few minutes drive to major sights in Tunis.
It was nice to have a tradionally Tunisia breakfast, but it would of been nice to have a buffet style, felt sometime the breakfast took to long to come out. The hotel was in an excellent location right in the middle of the Medina
I have stayed at the Carlton Hotel since I started traveling to Tunisia in 2008. The front desk staff are excellent. The dinner time waiters are friendly and warm, and the housekeepers are always outstanding. I love the Carlton.
The room is quite clean and big, especially can see the ocean from the balcony.
The service of restaurant of the hotel is a great surprise.
If I have any chance to Tunisia, this hotel must be the first choice.
This modern hotel is very close to the airport and therefore makes a good stay for those heading into or out of Tunisia. Breakfast was good. there are some cafes within the vicinity and a large supermarket.
