The hostel has a lot of lounging spaces and is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fairly well equipped. The half shaded terrace is really nice for relaxing or a meal between/after surfing. And the living room is great for late night. There are many affordable food places in Ferrel town nearby within walking distance.

The true atmosphere you expect to meet at a surf camp. The rooms were nice and clean, the ocean is 2 min walking. Luis is the greatest host, wish him the nicest guests:)

I could easily live here. The town is small and modern and not one of the historic venues that Porto or Lissabon offers but it has all the amenities that one can possibly look for. The relaxed surfing attitude and the pristine beaches make this a delight to visit. Our objective had just been to visit the beach as we reside in a land locked country and this place could not have been more perfect. The surf was a delight to watch and the air and beaches were clean. The people are friendly and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed.

I went to Baleal with the intention of surfing, and I could surf multiple times a day with some great waves. A week was too short. Keep in mind, I was in Baleal in January. The average air temp was 15c and the sea temp was 16.
It was quiet in the ocean and I could surf almost alone during the day. At the end of the day, after 4 PM the locals head into the water.
Perfect week in January for a surf-get-away.
I was told it is good and quiet until the end of April. It is too busy with surf camps /schools during summer.
Food tip: El Chilitio's! is 8 min a walk from the hostel. Great Mexican food and affordable.
Next to the hostel, there is a little supermarket. It is on the expensive side, but not too crazy.

Very nice place to spend one-two days in the complete calm without the sign of civilisation) Few cafes, restaurants, we found only one shop with pesto for 7.5 eur😬
If you’re going there by car it’s perfect, otherwise you need to have a taxi, never saw a public transport there.
In love with the dunes (wide line!), November waves and a bit melancholic mood.

Fo people who like to surf and love the ocean and steep cliffs this area is just perfect. And the food is also awesome but most of the time you need to make a reservation in the restaurants, if you don't like to wait for a table.

The beach and the water/view was fantastic...a piece of heaven. Baleal "island" is surrounded by cliffs and rocks but wonderful crashing waves. It is a beach area but has decent restaurants within a short walk. Get an apartment there with a view.
We really enjoyed our stay at the surfhouse. The hosts (Clare and Alex) have been indeed helpful in recommendations regarding Peniche area and surfing. The house itself has been kept extraordinarily clean, this applies to the apartments as well as for the shared rooms and the garden. It’s possible to rent surfboards or cruisers directly from the hosts. Every morning there’s a great breakfast being served with homemade jam and freshly baked pastry. All in all, it was our best stay without a doubt during our trip through Portugal.
Really cosy place to stay. In the rooms you have a locker and a drawer so you can unpack a bit which was a plus for me after living weeks out of a bag! Downstairs you have a nice big space that is living room/dining room/kitchen. There is also a coworking space available if you are working or studying. Terrace in front and behind the house. Great location, 2 minutes from the beach and close to Baleal. I felt really at home here and would definitely stay again!
This is a very small and quite hostel.
If you prefer alco-surfing you’d better choose another one.
There are only 3 double rooms and 6-place dorm.
The outstanding thing about it is its cleanness. The kitchen, the bathrooms, the common are super clean.
The owner and the volunteers are very kind and friendly.
Supermarket is 3 min walk. Laundry service is 15 min walk. 2 rentals are 5 min walk. All beaches are walking distance.
The location is perfect, right next to the beach, the rooms are great, very clean, modern and spacious and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. For the 3 of us it was a perfect stay, a place that we'll definitely be booking again once we decide to go back to Baleal. If you want the best possible view book the triple room, it has a balcony with a fantastic view of the beach and coastline.
Lovely, caring hosts. Our Suite was airy, light and very well-maintained. Fantastic location and views from our arched windows were amazing. Small beach in front of the hotel where you can watch the fishermen. Street parking.
Short walk (lots of rocks) to view the sunset then we strolled the cobbled streets and dinner at the Taberna do Ganhão. (April)
We absolutely loved this place! The owner is so sweet, very attentive and comes by to bring breakfast every day. The beds are super nice and comfy and there are so many cute and attentive details everywhere. They thought very well about their guests when they created this place. I will not stay anywhere else in Peniche anymore. Thank you so so much!
Location in Baleal was amazing. Right on the water. Surfing. Surf competition was happening that weekend and was great to see. Definitely a surfing spot. Staff was so nice. Served us breakfast every morning. Shower was really hot and nice. Two beaches and really cool road into the town across a sandbar.
Super friendly staff. Apartment was super clean, organized and with a variety of utensils for cooking. We were with our small child and all items we needed - crib, baby chair and bathtub. When newly visiting baleal & region, we are really considering to stay there again.
The place is calm, clean and very relaxing. I went to Penich to work and at the same time, learn to surf. It was my first time. In this hotel, I had an amazing time. I stayed there for one week and had an amazing time. Definitely, I will go back.
Loved this apartment. Excellent location perfectly in between Baleal and Ferrel. Great value for money - and the perfect place for a group of 3 -4 friends. Extremely well stocked kitchen, and a lovely big dinning table for group meals.
Everything in Captains was Awesome!
Whenever I go to Baleal I want to stay at Captains!
The staff, the guests, we couldn't have asked for more!
Thank you Ali, Ola and Fleur for a wonderful stay!
You are the best!
The location is just next to the beach.
A simple room with what is essential to stay a couple of nights.
Everything was very clean.
Very good shower (hot and powerfull).
