There are a lot of historical places to see nearby and some nice nature excursions through day trips as well. A lot to explore in terms of culture and shopping. It can be a little dusty and polluted at times so better to wear a mask when walking around the city.

We stayed in Kathmandu following the flight and to organise the remainder of our trip. I believe that 2 days in Kathmandu is ample to explore the city and take in the sights either before heading off to explore the stunning beauty of Nepal or when finishing the trip

Nepal is like another world, well worth visiting for the adventurous and open-minded.
Mountains, Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas and Tibetan monasteries, cities bustling with cheerful people and open-fronted shops, squalor and beauty, power cuts, street dogs and chickens, chaotic beeping traffic, 50% motorbikes and scooters, sometimes with more that two on board, which nevertheless an old lady can somehow cross safely.

So many things to see and experience, truly awesome.
So many things to see and experience, truly awesome. Lots of places to eat to experience the local cuisine. lots of places are within walking distance and the taxis are very cheep to get to the places out of walking distance. On a word of caution, wear a face mask, the air pollution is chronic. One disappointing thing that I found quite shocking was that the supposedly "sacred river" that flows through the city was treated as an open sewer. The smell and sight of raw effluent coming from the waters was horrific.

It’s a crazy high pace of screaming motorbikes and daredevil taxi drivers with your life in their hands. Some interesting spiritual sites of interest and a bazillion trekking companies and trekking equipment and clothing stores selling the top names brands all fake of course. You gotta love the people and their culture !!
Swarga Heritage Hotel is located in a small side street in the otherwise busy and bustling Thamel district in Kathmandu. The neighbourhood is dotted with smaller hotels, restaurants, shops and practical services like laundry, tailors and spas. The facility is absolutely awesome and potential guests are invited to come and check it out for themselves. It beats other small scale facility hotels big time as well as many larger hotels offering rooms in the same price range.
Superb hotel and very hard to fault. Customer service was easily the best I experienced throughout my 3 months in Nepal, nothing was too much trouble for Raj and David at the front desk. Rooms are big, light and spacious and cleaned daily to 5 star quality. Place is tucked away down a quiter alley in thamel but just a short 2min walk to restaurants and the crazyness of the area. A very good standard breakfast is also included in the price.
I had a wonderful stay at Ananta Home, which I believe is the best hotel I've ever visited. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay truly special.
The rooms were beautifully decorated with a cozy bed and lovely lighting. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the hotel's location in Thamel was both convenient and peaceful.
I'm definitely planning to stay here again in the future.
Shankar Hotel is very well situated. The best part of the property is its lush green gardens and the pool set among it. Its very peaceful to sit and soak the sun specially during winters. Breakfast is simple but delicious. Its not flashy like some 5 star properties but still good enough. The spread was basic but very sumptuous. Live egg station is par excellence.
I highly recommend this property. Mr. Itani and his team were amazing! I can honestly say Divine Kathmandu was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in all my travels. They were very accommodating and welcoming. The staff showed a genuine kindness and desire to ensure your stay with them was pleasant and hassle free.
I highly recommend this hotel.
The best part about the property was the owner of this hotel. As first time travellers he helped us with our tight money budget by recommending us a budget friendly but good hotel in Pokhara. He seemed to be an understanding and honest human being. It is because of his help that we could travel further to Pokhara. Highly recommended this hotel.
I strongly advise this hotel. The location is perfect, next to Thamel, but in this hotel you don't listen hustle and bustle of the street. It's a quiet place. The staff is very friendly and rooms are good. The breakfast is very good with sweet and salt food served in a tiny quiet garden. Moreover is a cheap hotel :)
Location, staff and facilities. It is just 2 min walk in Thamel so you can still enjoy it without the noise from the bars. Staff are very nice and helpful and the hotel itself is really good. The airport drop off was really convenient since the size of the car is bigger than the normal taxis is Kathmandu.
I will give 10 star rating to this hotel for my stay. The best thing in the hotel was their hospitality, their are friendly staffs and the breakfast. The room shower very clean, fast Wi-Fi, and spacious bathroom. The budget Hotel in Kathmandu Thamel, I will book again for my next trip to Ktm.
It’s an average hotel for Nepal. Personnel was super nice and the room was comfortable. Nothing special. Shower was hot and that is a plus here for sure! The location not the best in an alley with no exit but near the busy streets of Thamel. Nothing bad just nothing extraordinary about it.
The location actually is the top notch thing about this hotel. it’s walkable distance from Airport
The owner is so helpful. He even prepared some oats as i was flying early morning.
Best choice for those who wants to stay near airport
Rooms are okay and i didn’t find much issues
Pleasantly surprised by the hotel. As someone who frequently travels to Kathmandu, this was my first time staying in a hotel with this much greenery and nature inside the city and minutes away from the Thamel market. Will definitely come again
The hotel was so pleasent and calm. It is situated in thamel area which is very helpful for marketing and very near to all. Owner keshav ji & all of the staff are very friendly. Best hotel to stay.
One of the best hotels in Kathmandu. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Especially the Hotel manager is a gem. This is a lovely place to stay when you are on holiday in Nepal.
The open space with garden and trees attracted me the most. 360 degree view of Kathmandu valley from the rooftop was another fascinating factor of the hotel.
Hotel was budget friendly, the manager and the staff were very polite and helpful. Location was walking distance to the Thamel market. Food was also nice.
Centrally located very easy access for shopping area in Thamel, Restsurent in courtyard garden was the best ever. Highly recommended budget price hotel.
