We stopped to play golf, and to savour the local cuisine.
We stopped to play golf, and to savour the local cuisine. We were not disappointed. The course at Royal Perak Golf Course was in good condition. We enjoyed our afternoon of golf.
Earlier we stopped in town for nasi ganja. We were delighted with our lunch which was half the price of a similar meal in KL.
For breakfast the next morning we stopped at Hollywood and enjoyed fried kwaytiau, prawn mee and kopi susu.
Once done we headed out of Ipoh via Simpang Pulai. The traffic on that Tuesday morning was flowing well.

Ipoh city at least the area near the river is fairly run...
Ipoh city at least the area near the river is fairly run down. The park on the river is run down and litter is abundant on the river bank area. This is no surprise to me as its common across SE Asia countries. Walking around is not recommended in the hot weather, use Grab or other services. Forget the local bus service. The tourist spots in the old city are worth seeing but the rest is really you normal shops and businesses.
Crossing the road is tricky unless you are at a set of traffic lights. These are not so common.
I feel Ipoh has not a lot of charm, we tried hard to look for it. We did meet friendly people.
I don't think I would come back again to Ipoh.

Nice old town with much untouched straits settlement...
Nice old town with much untouched straits settlement architecture. In comparison, those in Singapore, Penang and Malacca have been preserved and updated. But you can still find original or close-to-original buildings in Ipoh. Food was great! Especially the street food. Notable must-try cuisine would be the Salted Chicken (may not be to everyone's liking), Stir Fired Bean Sprouts, Ipoh Hor Fun (a different league!) and Ipoh White Coffee (coffee with condensed milk). Worth visiting the cave temples (there are a few and they are not close to one another!) on the outskirts as the atmosphere is pleasing. Just googled 'Temple Caves in Ipoh'. If you have the time, go out of Ipoh to Kelly's Castle (a British style castle), the Tanjung Tulang Tin Dredge (a look into Ipoh's glorious past as a tin mining town) and Cameron Highlands (cooling & refreshing getaway from the hot tropical sun).

I love Ipoh because the food is great, the old town is easy and fun. I have friends there so it is different. I don't care for much of the rest but they are there if you want to do it. Make sure you have lots of space in your lugguage to buy your yummy snacks and gifts home.

This was only a short stop over for me.
This was only a short stop over for me. And it was mainly for food.
Had the Beggar's Chicken which was brilliant and the tau foo fah at Funny Mountain was brilliant. The one we usually went to (near Concubine Lane) was closed and we found this one at Funny Mountain. It was so good we went back the next day to have another go before leaving Ipoh.
Our morning breakfast was Dim Sum at Zhen Hi Hao which is brilliant. The atmosphere was great. It was not noisy like some of the other "so-called" popular ones. And the food is truly good. I highly recommend this place for Dim Sum.

Ipoh is nice place as in if you are seeking for tranquility and peace, this is a great place.
However, knowing which restaurants and shops to eat can be challenging let along affordability.
There are good places for sightseeing but I would come to Ipoh just to relax. It is suitable for a staycation
The hotel is in a prominent position just outside the old town, a ten minute or so walk to Concubine Lane. The rooms were dated and on the whole clean, the carpet in the room has seen better days, everything worked fine. The public areas are modern and well maintained, we didn't visit the pool during our stay. The hotel is a 5 minute taxi ride from the train station, only RM7 via GRAB. The breakfast options are vast with egg station and roti cooked on the spot. Ipoh deserves a few days to explore.
The host was very helpful, friendly and considerable. The 1st impression was great. The facilities provided were all useful during my stay. The house was super clean, has great smell(like a hotel smell) and away from busy roads. Although its a bit far from Ipoh town, u still can drive without traffic interruption. Furthermore, there are many shops nearby, a Mydin Mall & you can order food via grab or Food Panda without hesitation.. Another best part about the homestay is really in front of Surau..
Overall was good, the staff n facilities... 2nd day, no electricity but the aircond only was working, informed hotel staff, without delay they arrange nxt room for us... N actual check-out was 12pm, due to rushing after convocation, again ask the staff did we can get a extra time for packed up, and the staff giving us extra 1hours, n it really made us happy to fresh-up before head-to seremban.... Thank you so much to travelland hotel staff for smoothing our journey 🤗👍.
Once you enter the property, you will be greeted with perfumed scent which was nice. The interior of the hotel looks classy. Loved the room as they were so big (we got the concept room) and it has free access to the lounge, which we enjoyed.
The hotel was connected to Ipoh parade, and nearby Ipoh Old Town. It was about 10mins to the airport which was very convenient for us.
It’s one of the best stays in Ipoh for sure!
You are paying for 5 star services but a fraction of the price. The hotel comes with a well-equipped gym, playroom, water dispenser at every level, surau, heck even a cafe. The buffet spread was ample, there is always a welcome drink at the lobby, in short there’s always something for everyone.
The location of the hotel is good as it is located at one of the main street in Ipoh. There's a 7-11 right beside the hotel. The parking is convenient. The staff is friendly and provide lots of info. The room is clean with big bed. The air-cond is cold. The bathroom is clean with good shower head. Overall a good stay in the town.
Clean, tidy, quiet, huge room, friendly owner, 5 stars toilet finishes with marble top and granite wall and floor tiles not usual for a homestay some more with centralised air-conditioning....proper hotel facilitated unlike homestay... everything is so considerate bed, bedsheets, towels, drinks, coffee, s
Biscuits, etc.
Highly recommended for family or group travel. The location of the hotel is excellent for tourists because it is close to Ipoh's popular attractions. Don't worry got a hairdryer, an iron for clothes, and a refrigerator for girls hehe...very good accommodations with a wonderful host-led tour. Worth every last dime.
The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable, excellent value for money. The utilities were very convenient as we were able to do our laundry and have everything dry before leaving Ipoh. Japanese restaurant is very good, but the best find for breakfast are the 2 restaurants in the same street as the hotel.
Stayed at many hotels around the world. Sojourn Ipoh is the cleanest one I have stayed in and I extremely love the minimalistic design and ambiance. To top it all, the spa atmosphere and free welcome drinks and massage made me so relaxed. I had the best sleep that night!
Convenient and accessible to a lot of places near town area. I always stay here when on vacation.
The only disadvantage was the pricing online is much more expensive than book at the hotel in arrival. Booking.com was supposed to be cheaper
the bed is comfort. bathroom is okay. I like the warm shower. there's a vending machine outside the hotel make us easier to buy food, or there are 7E and KK mart next to the hotel to buy anything. The location is near to the city.
This hotel very convenient for our travel and very easy to look many good food at restaurant or stall. Got nite market.. quite a good location in town area. Will recommend to all my fren who want go to ipoh for holiday..
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting ipoh.
Very near to Ipoh town.Very quiet, had a very good sleep.Banglo convert hotel.Memang tiptop 5 star.Recommended.The staff very helpful, nice. Overall marvelous place to stay.
