An interesting area - a slice of real Italian life which we enjoyed after the hustle and bustle of some of the more tourist driven locations.
We ate at La Medusa Hotel sampling exceptional gourmet fine dining.
There are regular train stations travelling along the north and south coast making it perfect to get anywhere.
Local boat trips take you on refreshing scenic coastal tours, however the day trip to Capri was extremely busy with tourists.
An Amalfi coast boat trip is a must and hop off at the little village gem of Positano.

Surprised to find my original review did not "save" properly. We absolutely loved our accommodations. (Two couples) The view is spectacular up and a bit out of the way. We drove down from Rome airport and enjoyed recovery soaking in the sunset on our first night. The hosts were gracious with our delayed arrival due to heavy traffic. We saw Pompeii and Sorrento the next day then much of Amalfi on the third day. We should have planned another night. So perfect! Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed accept we should have bought a big bottle of water along the way.

A perfect location on the train line between Naples and Sorrento so perfect from which to explore the area. I was alone so didn’t venture out much at night but this certainly seemed an option if desired.

The port area is not renovate at all, the outside walls of the buildings are exfoliating and everyone is drying clothes outside the window which is looking very bad. The place is getting very crowed and the driving here is an adventure to escape without a scratch.

I've been visiting Castellammare since 1978.
I've been visiting Castellammare since 1978. Some terrible damage was done in the earthquake of 1980 but the city has progressed past that and is now a beautiful place again. Even better than before. I love the atmosphere and the friendliness xxxx

The bedside floating shelf broke when I put a 2 litre water bottle on it. One of the knobs on the front door came off. Noise from the street is big. Nice bathroom. Comfortable bed. Good central location. No parking.

We highly recommend Simones hotelroom. It was such good that we extended our stay. Ideal location to visit Pompei, Ercolano, Capri, Positano; due to nearby railstation. Beach nearby. Breakfast better than average Italian hotelbreakfast. Owner easily to reach, also very friendly when we contacted him for questions. Owner has many recommendations for visits. The hotelroom seems newly build with latest technology (floor cooling system, air humidity control system, sound isolation, luxereous bathroom, huge tv flatscreen).
Francesco was very welcoming and friendly, we didn’t arrive till very late and he was there waiting for us with our key which was great! The room was a good size for the four of us, it was lovely and clean with lots of towels for us all. It was also cleaned during our stay and fresh towels were given. Kids loved the location, really handy for the train, which was easy to use to get to Sorrento, Pompeii and Naples. We loved Castellammare Di Stabia and loved staying at B&B il Vicoletto. We will definitely be returning!
The receptionist was welcoming, gave restaurant recommendations and helped with bookings. They were good recommendations!
A super room which was spacious, stylish with a high standard of finish. Very cool.
Breakfast on the terrace with good food, service and amazing views.
A good location to visit Capri and then head on to the Amalfi coast. It avoids the busy traffic and the hotel and town are reasonably priced.
Great location - nearby the train station and the main area of Castellamare and the beach.
I think its a very kind area for travellers as it is a more authentic town.
The coffee shop employees, where the breakfast is (a coffee + a pastry, near the beach) are really kind.
The rooms are clean which is really important.
When we asked for things like a kettle and an iron we got them later in the same day.
Nicola went above and beyond to help us with everything including accompanying us to find parking space when we arrived to a very busy town centre. Unit was small but clean and functional and when we asked for extra items they were promptly provided. Super close to train . Once we rotated the foam matress to put the soft end at the foot of the bed, it was very comfortable for sitting up and sleeping
lovely and beautiful old house tucked up in the hills 15mins drive behind the ancient town of Castellemare. Pleasant views of the distant Bay of Naples, peaceful and quiet. And beyond any expectations was the kindest host family I’ve come across in many years. Thankyou for making my overnight stay so calm and memorable. I cant recommend enough as an idyllic alternative to any city hotel. :)
if you love the noise of waves and nature, and the view, its amazzing ... i slept each day with my door open to enjoy the sounds in the night adn the day from the waves .... beach is not swimmable at all as its not safe by european standards to swim in it ... but you can walk 2km from the hotel to a decent black sand beach ...... the pool is good and decent !
Great property close to the train station and quick connections to Sorrento,Pompei, and Napoli. It is a great place to go exploring the beginning of Amalfi coast and the bay of Naples without paying the ridiculous prices of sorrento for example. The town is also has a very cute suburban vibe and has a couple of nice beaches which can be reached by bus.

The hotel was tranquil and felt safe.
The room for 4 was spacious for 2 of us.
Lovely views across the bay, especially sunset.
The room is very spacious, everything is new and modern, including a kitchen, dining area and sitting area.
The room is 5 minutes drive from the center of the town and includes private parking which is much needed in the area.
The hostess was available and answered all our requests.
Partial sea view, very nice. Breakfast and dinner were superb with serving staff always available. Excellent hotel personel, always helpfull and willing to advise, specially front desk and gim (Sara). Room was spacious, comfortable and with attention to detail.
The property is absolutely beautiful, well decorated, comfortable, spacious and great location. The service was amazing as well, concierge communicated with me and arranged everything from restaurants to parking and tours.
Superb! Can’t wait to come back
Beautiful hotel - rooms were spacious and well equipped - pool area was fantastic - comfortable sun loungers with waiter service - bar area was lovely with a good selection of drinks - snacks served with drinks too which was a nice touch
it was a nice place to stay. rooms were spacious and clean. however the beach near the property isn’t the cleanest. about a 10 min walk from the train station from where you can get to Sorrento and other places.
what a beautiful hotel… we literally can see the mount Vesuvius from our balcony. it was a very pleasant stay. owner upgraded our room to the sea view one. so far our best hotel in Italy.
The apartment is ideally located a 2 minute walk to the ferry to Capri - and a 12 minute walk to the train. We enjoyed how spacious the apartment is and the king bed is comfortable.
The pool and beach were amazing. The pool staff were wonderful. The location with it being on one level and not having to climb stairs. Housekeeping did a beautiful job.
