Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.

We stayed in room 26 and the people in the room above were noisy all night - had no sleep so checked out at 5.30am - reported noise to night porter he said they’d been in and out all night have cigarettes. He said he’s done a walk about check at 5am and he could hear them being noisy but did nothing about it - had a 4 hour drive after having no sleep - I would request a full refund
Great location for local bars and pubs. Lovely pub inside the decor is fantastic with stained glass. Special mention for the extremely friendly staff - I had fraud on my card on the day I was there and had to cancel my details, so the lady from the hotel called me directly when I got home to ensure my refund of the security deposit went through which I was extremely grateful for. Good value for town centre and we had a family room so price split between us. Room was clean with a lovely spacious bathroom
A+++
SA Stays is an excellent hotel conveniently situated two minutes out of Wigan town centre.
All facilities available including laundry, with a courtyard style garden at the rear.
The rooms are very comfortable with a variety of size available.
It is like living in a clean and well furnished house share being the type and style of hotel.
I highly recommend SA Stays in Wigan, well worth the stay.
At the age of 70, I wouldn't normally have stayed over a pub with live music. However, the critical illness of a family member left me no choice, especially as Premier Inn had increased their prices to £175.50. The staff of the Charles Dickens couldn't have been kinder or more compassionate. I will remember them with gratitude.
Comfortable, clean apartment with fresh modern decor and everything you could want, including tea coffee and milk.
Good location for walking into Wigan center, but the bars cafes and bistros were better in the area immediately around the apartment.
Well decorated studio area, well equipped kitchen, place felt comfortable and clean and like a home away from home. V close to town centre and minutes from big Tesco
Assumed it would be smaller than it looked in photos but was definitely bigger!
Classic Wetherspoons Hotel, one up from a Travelodge, on a par with Marstons & Greene King Hotels but a bit cheaper.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
All rooms on one floor so no noise from above.
Huge restaurant with great service.
Room were spacious, beds was very comfortable, the hotel was quiet, shower was powerful and lots of hot water, breakfast were large and very tasty. Staff were amazingly helpful , polite and cheerful
Nice hotel if a little dated. Good breakfast, especially the croissants. Excellent gym with plenty of equipment and free-weights. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly.
Stuff is very friendly and room is clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Location is very good and quiet, city centre is ~10 minutes away with a car.
