I wasn’t coming for pleasure so had dinner in the hotel both nights. Just 3 parking spaces ludicrous. However, public car park free after 6.30pm right through Sunday. But as I had arrived on Friday it would have cost more into Saturday morning. The room 104 was small and over the kitchen air con units. On the plus side, short corridor outside and no upper storey so blissfully quiet. Would have preferred a bath.

Do not stay at the Inn on the Lake, unless you have come into money.
If you have stay somewhere else anyway.

Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

An interesting little town that has retained much of its character despite morphing into another notch in the London commuter belt. The centre has some good independent shops. The park has a poignant memorial to the radio operator on the Titanic. The meadows next to the Wey navigation offer pleasant walks. The woods at Winkworth arboretum are spectacular all year round. Road and rail links to London and the south coast are very good.

I know NOTHING about Godalming - apart from the fact that it has a branch of Waitrose and that booking.com has decided that we stayed there - we were actually on the outskirts of a village called Compton, nearest main town Guildford.
Comfortable apartment in a good location in the centre of Godalming main street. It was well furnished, comfortable bed and clean. Also very quiet which was nice given its location. There were reverse air con units in each room so nice and warm. Wi-fi was good. Kitchen was clean and had everything included although we didn't actually use it apart from making tea. The price was competitive for the time of year and if that was the case in the future we would stay again.
Having been told this hotel was a real dump a few years ago, I was totally amazed at how gorgeous the whole place is! Everything about it is splendid. The rooms are really well equipped with things you expect and a few more besides. The decor is top class, a real feeling of luxury. In fact the whole hotel is like staying in a stately manor!
And being right on the High Street the location is fantastic
The Withies Inn is the quintessential English countryside inn and pub experience. The pub is warm and inviting with delicious food and drink, fireside seating, local flavor and an authentic pub ambience. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lush bedding and towels. The proprietor, Hugh, and his team are friendly and professional. I highly recommend The Withies Inn for your next visit to Surrey.
Breakfast was SUCH A TREAT! Beautifully presented, plenty of options and generous offerings. The staff were excellent from the moment we arrived to departure -happy, friendly, warm and attentive. Fantastic cocktails and a really buzzing and fun space to hang out in on a Friday evening. Good location right next to Godalming high street. Colourful and fun decor too which was uplifting.
It was dog friendly, it was clean, spacious and had everything you would need. We had come down, having moved away from the town for a family party, so very convenient area for us.
There is parking on site, an enclosed garden for the dogs, just everything that’s needed. The owners were great, kind, polite and nothing would have been too much trouble for them.
This is a lovely hotel with good sized rooms. The location is good but a bit too far to walk into Godalming with small children. The breakfast was nice and well presented. Lots of tea and coffee and juice. Some cereals would have been a nice added bonus. Lovely ladies serving breakfast in the morning - thankyou!
Withies far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are nicely updated and comfortable while the restaurant and bar remain authentic and historic. Hugh and his team could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was one of the best we had in England. We would definitely stay again.
As historic architectural preservationist I was very impressed with beautifully restored building. Modern comforts paired kindly with historic details made for a very comfortable, inviting space.
Located in the central of Godalming, near train station, bus stop, shops and restaurants. Easy and convenient to go to Winkworth Arboretum. A perfect place to stay in Godalming.
The price was the cheapest in the area, but still a overpriced for what we got. The room was clean at least. After reading some of the other reviews I was expecting much worse.
Convenient location, close to the centre of Godalming and easy to get out and explore the surrounding area. Clean and comfortable. Very easy check in with clear instructions.
The hotel was well situated close to the A3, and [as a single room] was value for money as most available rooms in the area were double rate. The room had lots of character,
This Hotel was very revently renovated. The rooms were beautiful. The bathrooms were new and well equipped. Breakfast and lunch were very good with very good service.
Lovely 17th century pub / restaurant/ hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Evening meals were excellent. Couple of local real ales which were lovely.
