The hotel offered more facilities than we expected. Dining room staff for dinner were excellent. Delighted at large dining room. Excellent breakfast. Only problem with room was the bathroom was far too small. Room was warm and cozy.

Rooms were comfy. Probably a little dated but nothing terrible. There's a restaurant next door that had a good burger. The tongariro shuttle picks you up right outside. They actually have a climbing wall! The only grocery store was really close as well.

The views of the Tongariro mountains around National Park are excellent. It is a quiet little village with a good bar. There is no shop so buy your food before you head to National Park. National Park is an excellent base if you are planning to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing walk as you can get a shuttle to and from the walk from here.

Excellent place for hiking and trekking.
Excellent place for hiking and trekking. Place is near by famous mountain area. If require, all the hiking gears can rent from near by shop. As an alternative to Alpine crossing, I recommend Taranaki falls, Lower Tama and Upper Tama lakes trekking.

It’s a great place to visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Venture into the outdoors there are so many good walking tracks and of course in the winter when the snow comes skiing as well!

It's a great base for exploring Tongariro National Park's hiking trails. Most trails are within a 10-minute drive. Keep in mind that the village only has two restaurants. Personally, I recommend the pub next to the mini golf for a good meal.

Great views of the mountains.
Great views of the mountains. Not many eating options but it is a tiny town/village. Schnapps bar is cozy and decent pub food. Spiral restaurant buffet breakfast was a bit average, a la carte menu looked better but wasn’t available on Sunday

Always enjoy the atmosphere in this beautiful rugged environment.
The Walks are very nice with beautiful scenery in every direction. Ohakune is also an interesting town with much to enjoy with cafe's, quaint eateries & many options for accommodation.
The young guy working in the shop/reception area was wonderful - really cheerful, positive and welcoming to everyone. My bedroom, the kitchen and lounge were all comfortable and kept nice and clean. There's a smart TV with Netflix etc in the lounge, and multiple sources of heat to keep you cosy in this very cold village. Only a 5 minute walk from the train station/bus stop.
The lodge is bright and colourful. We had our own bunk room which was close to the bathrooms. The kitchen was big with lots of utensils. Great location for anyone doing the Tongariro Crossing or exploring the National Park. Adjacent bar was fun to pop in to and staff at both the hostel and bar were very friendly. Can highly recommend catching sunrise, the stars and sunset.
The room is large, with a large private bathroom included. There is also a well-furnished kitchen to share with another room . The fact is that the manager tries to separate the different rooms so that each one can enjoy a private kitchen. The place is very close to Tongariro national park and the lodge is able to book a shuttle for you, that's well organized.
We booked the accommodation in order to hike the Tongariro Crossing as easily as possible and were not disappointed. The shuttle runs not far from the accommodation, making it easy to get an early start to the day. The accommodation contains everything you need to self-cater, plus a very spacious shower!
The lodge was very close to Tongariro park. The owners were very helpful. The spa tub was lovely after the hiking. The lodge is also close to a convenience store to buy basic groceries (recommended to do food shopping for produce and anything other than basics before getting to National Park).
Great location for hiking Tongariro Crossing. Close to a couple of good places eating out for dinner. Used the kitchen facilities to prepare our lunches, plenty of space. Property was clean and facilities were good for our party of 5. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers.
Great location if you want to go hiking, since they have a transfer shuttle for the Tongariro crossing that leaves from the motel. It has a nice common area with eveything you need to cook or store your food in the fridge. Nice and very helful staff. There is free private parking

We booked here last minute as we had changed our plans for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing Hike. Due to double booking we were upgraded as it was our honeymoon. The rooms were basic but just what we needed for a night stay before the hike. Very compact.
The hotel offered more facilities than we expected. Dining room staff for dinner were excellent. Delighted at large dining room. Excellent breakfast. Only problem with room was the bathroom was far too small. Room was warm and cozy.
Very large and comfortable room for 2 people. Owners and reception clerk very friendly and helpful. Great location for visiting Tongariro NP. A couple of nice eating/drinking options nearby. Quiet.
National park is a good location for the Tongariro Alpine walk. Shuttles go from there to the start, but there are better accomodation options in Turangi
Lovely warm rooms and super clean cooking and bathroom/shower facilities. A great spot to stay while enjoying Tongariro National Park or driving South.
