A wonderful good old-fashioned motel in the best tradition. The hosts were friendly and knowledgeable and the accommodation was warm, well-appointed and spacious. We changed our booking from 3 to 2 people at the last minute and the host instantly reduced our charges to reflect the change.

Fairlie hasnt got buried by tourists yet- it is real and the locals are busy farm folk. There are a couple of good eating places (our favourite is the Library restaurant-changed hands but food still excellent). The supermarket is well stocked. We have done some of the walks with our kids before - the new bike tracks sound interesting-must try them out next time. The information place is a gem with a couple of bubbly ladies with helpful ideas.

Lovely little town away from tourist spots and really good value. Couple of pubs to eat at and a chinese and bakery and supermarket. We used it as a place to have a quiet day before going to Christchurch. Turned out much better than expected and after some rain it was beautiful to see all the snow covered mountains around the town.

Fairlie is a very small village with the main attractions being the alpaca farm (nice for families) and the local pie bakery, which has been hyped in social media. We found the pies being not above average, we had better ones in most places. The best thing about Fairlie was the Fairlie Holiday Park and its comfy rooms.

Fairlie is a cute town that is close to many other places such as Lake Tekapo and Timaru. It has a number of good shops and nice restaurants. When my partner and I came to stay we went to a restaurant called Carnegies and it does quite tasty pizzas. Fairlie Bakehouse is also a good place to stop by but be careful going at lunch time as it was extremely busy when we went at 12pm. We enjoyed reading the little info stands telling you about the history of Fairlie. There's also a place you can stay at (Rollesby accommodation) that has hot tubs, so lovely. Overall, would visit Fairlie again!

My mum and I had an amazing stay - it completely exceeded our expectations - we were arriving late and Erin prepared the apartment for us beautifully and even put the electric fireplace heater on - it was so cosy in there! We wish we could have stayed longer than one night. Beautiful location, great value for money, there’s everything you might need. Thank you Erin!

It is a nice little town with its own character.
It is a nice little town with its own character. Travelled here from Lake Tekapo before leaving for Christchurch the next day so did not have much time to explore. The Mackenzie Motels were exceptional and the Fairlie Bakehouse was really lovely too. Really enjoyed my short stay here.
The motel units are a little dated but are very tidy, comfortable and warm. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds. The owners are wonderful. We arrived after the office was closed but found our unit was made ready with heater already warming the room. We also experienced car trouble which delayed our departure from Fairlie and the owner could not have been more supportive of our predicament - extending our check-out time as much as we needed.
Delightful cabin. Excellent for 2 couples, gorgeous setting , comfortable beds & super clean kitchen- we didnt use the hot tub -it looked very inviting - will next time- owner very friendly & gave helpful information about tracks, walks, restaurants & local events. This stop in Fairlie is a perfect break on the Queenstown-Christchurch drive. Will stay again.
I stayed in multiple camp sites during a bike tour in the Nth Island this summer but this last minute booking while down south beats all of them for value for money. Awesome standard of facilities & exceedingly friendly & helpful staff. I'll definitely be back when I am in Fairlie again.
Operating since 1865, the Gladstone Hotel is an historic Hotel with much charm set in a small town. Pub and restaurant downstairs and quiet rooms upstairs. The host Karen was wonderful. Rooms are perfect for one person. I had no complaints especially the price for staying there.
It was clean, well equipped and we even accidentally ended up having an extra bed in the lounge which was nice because it meant we had two rooms for three people rather than all in one. The staff was super friendly and the location was 30min from lake Tekapo.
Lovely wee character house in a superb location in heart of Fairlie, very short walk to shops and cafes. Hosts made contact before stay and were very friendly and accommodating. Warm once both logburners were going and was a pleasant and unique stay.
What a wee hidden gem in Fairlie! A huge thanks to Murray & Jackie for let the hot tub runs for a few days to suitable for pregnancy temperature! I feel well deserved spoilt and been spent a lot time in tub! We will definitely be back!!
Quite well located, relatively bargain price accomodation. Continental breakfast included, which was essential during the Christmas break with many shops closed. Good distance to Lake Tekapo
The location is great. Lake Tekapo accomondation was very booked out so we booked this one in Fairlie which is about half an hour drive to Tekapo. The room was small, clean and cosy.
This is a new, well-finished, very well equipped and sparkling clean motel. Park in front of the room with sitting area in back yard. Great location and quiet street.
