On a road trip through Norway, knowing what I know now, I would have stayed here longer. My ferry is on Wednesday, so I have a day and a half to get to Kristiansand. I would have preferred to stay here longer, lovely hotel, great staff and lovely facilities. Put this on your radar for a stop over.

It is just not a very interesting place.
It is just not a very interesting place. I stayed there because I came over on the ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark, but on reflection I would have been better staying longer in Hirtshals and not staying in Larvik at all.
The guesthouse is not just a regular guesthouse, it is so much more. I couldn´t believe my eyes when I saw my room. It was like out of a fairytale! There is so much work, craft, talent and passion put into this historical place! One of the best stays in my life! Very good quiet and beautiful location, just few steps from the main train station in Larvik and the sea, away from noise, super quiet and pleasant. I loved absolutely everything about Lysko Gjestegård. So happy I found it and booked it for my 2 nights stay. Highly recommend.
Beautiful, quiet rural location. Close to Larvik (5 km) for dining, groceries and natural attractions. Kindness and helpfulness of owners. Unit is as photographed. Upstairs with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with two single beds, Downstairs with full bed in bedroom. Lounge area with tv and large table which was great for playing games. We enjoyed traveling around to natural and historical locations. Admittedly it was late in season and some sights were closed after August.
We liked that the owner greeted us and showed us the unit we were staying in . Everything was available that we needed , but having to go down several steps to the bathroom was a n inconvenience and fortunately we were all capable of making the trip up and down. Carrying suitcases up and down was also somewhat difficult. The living space was fine and all utilities worked properly.
While the hotel is not new, it is charming with a lot of character. We had a family room which was sufficient for our family of 4. The bathroom and shower were spacious. Staff was lovely and very helpful. When we arrived the lady informed us that there was a pool and recommended we take the kids, which we did and they loved. We also had a very nice view of the lake.
Great flat, lots of space, private terrace with nice views over the fields and farms. Quiet. Very well equipped. Flat is over two floors with private entrance, but attached to proprietors house. We were only there for a night, so can’t say much about area. very close to Ferry Terminal in Larvik though. Extremely friendly and helpful host.

Everything. It is situated in the middle of Larvik, close to ferry, train, bus and the motorway. The room was extremely cozy, and all common areas were super clean. Bonus points for the bathroom that has a fantastic shower :D
We wanted to visit Larvik and Skien, so this seemed like a wonderful option -- being directly between the two. The owners are so friendly and helpful. A great place for families with younger kids, I could imagine.
AMAZING PLACE! this was really worth the money - once in a lifetime hotel. building and interior and all the antiquities renovated with utmost care and superb taste. Nobody can copy this!
This is a perfect tiny house to use as a base for getting to know Larvik and surroundings. And Mette, the host, is super service oriented and friendly!! A truly wonderful experience.
The wood stove was nice.
It was nice the owner arranged a last minute booking, because we needed to stay in Larvik longer then planned, (due to no ferry going).
What a great opportunity to stay in a place with such history and care towards restoration. The decor was amazing. Great location for the Larvik ferry.
