Room was very comfortable with rice field view & private balcony, great Value for money, all prices are very reasonable, Very special thing is they can arrange whatever we need to do in Sri Lanka, Highly Recommend for everyone.

We most liked that the owner is so passionate about his resort. He loved to show us around in his beautifull garden and everything in the resort is thought of and well functioning. The sister of the owner is an excellent cook and she makes a great Sri Lankan breakfast. Each day a bit different but always delicious and plentifull. Same holds for the optional dinner. Owner also has good deals and friendly and knowledgeable friends for excursions to the temples and Sigiriya and safari. We left to see other places but actually we didn't want to leave this little paradise.

It's a great backpackers place with a pool. The food and service was very good and it's very near the historic site of the ancient city. We stayed there with kids, they loved the pool and we had a large room and we had a wonderful stay.

We booked a room with a view that looked over the lake and mountains, it was stunning and would really recommend getting a room with a view if you are booking here. We used the free bikes available to explore the local area and cycled round the lake whilst the sun set. The pool was clean and refreshing. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both were good. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The room was really big and the air con was great and stayed on even when you weren't in the room so when you came back it was cold.

    Ruins is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is very nice. The food, the rooms are amazing. I invite all local and foreign people to come here and have fun. Located outside the city, it is a quiet and pleasant place to stay. In all respects, Ruins is a beautiful hotel located in Polonnaruwa. I am thankful to all the employees including the management for helping to make my holiday beautiful.

    The site seeing of historical places were the best.

    The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. We hired a vehicle during the tour, This gave us the flexibility to get around. Net time I'll try to get there in the cooler months, mid December.

    Lot of ancient locations and relics.

    Lot of ancient locations and relics. Can gain much information about historical Polonnaruwa era of Sri Lanka. Spread is in close vicinity and can cover all areas even without a travel guide. My favourite places were Parakrama Samudraya, museum, King Parakramabahu's castle and office, Gal Viharaya, Thiwanka Pilima geya, Vatadage, Hetadage and Sathmahal Prasadaya. There are places to eat in Polonnaruwa new town (Very close by). We dined at NS Tomatoes where the service was good.

    It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far...

    It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far southern area too.... and don't forget to check out the back roads in the quadrangle group. The site is full of tourists, but almost nobody at the above mentioned places.

    Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas...

    Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas which are in good conditions despite of the years. The Minneriya National Park, the Dambulla cave temple and the Sigiriya Rock are also near and it makes Polonnaruwa a perfect base to visit all of them. We would strongly recommend to others.

    We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale.

    We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale. We got a tuk tuk into town (1500 rupees) and hired bikes for the day (1000 rupees each). We found a cycle route online and followed that, which took us to all the main sites. It was hot but we had a great time. Stop for a drink at the EKO hotel on the lake- a great spot!

    The hotel is well situated surrounded by rice paddies and is a peaceful location. The hotel has a beautiful tropical landscaped garden with magnificent pool area which is welcome at the end of a hot day traipsing around the ancient site. The hotel is a family run business where the young members are the front of house and do a great friendly job. Breakfast was large and a good start to the day of a mixture of Sri Lankan and western.

    This is the first time we are visiting Srilanka and this was the first hotel we booked for accomodation in this trip.To our surprise the hotel was really fantastic with swimming pool,dining area,situated in the accessible location and surrounding.We were given excellent hospitality by the hotel staffs.They were friendly and helped us by arranging tuk tuk.They provided us tasty breakfast and I highly recommend this hotel 👍👍👍

    Ekho Lake House exceeded all of our expectations ! Our stay was perfect from start to finish. Probably our best hotel experience in our 3 week stay in Sri Lanka. The location is exceptionally beautiful and tranquil. The room was superb, the bed incredibly comfortable and the food top class.     I stayed at the resort for one night. It was an enjoyable experience. The staff was pleasant, and the service was excellent. The resort was nicely decorated. Hotel facilities were convenient. A secure environment to stay and dine. The food was excellent. The resort is close to Galviharaya, Parakrama Samudraya, Polonnaruwa National Museum, and the Wax Museum therefore overall an excellent location to stay.

    Beautiful, clean, spacious room. There are two very nice new buildings with two units each. The garden is lovely and we sat on the balcony and watched the birds. Breakfast was exceptional and plentiful & dinner was the best that we had in Sri Lanka, everything was fresh and flavorful. Kithmi is away from the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend Kithmi Resort, it is a true gem.

    Best place to stay in Polonnaruwa according to me. The house is in the nature and very close to the temples. We had great discussions about the country and got to learn more about Sri Lankan. Our host made us an amazing rice and curry and we went on a night walk to see wild animals. We have been able to rent great bikes to visite the temples. I really recommend!

    lovely owners who served excellent vast breakfasts. Mahesh. also drove us to Anuradhapura at the end of our visit, At end of season food options in Polonnaruwa very limited (eg Dineth's in town - basically a cafe that does curry and rice) so might want to arrange evening meals at Thisara.

    Family guest house. I felt welcomed from all family. The house is right next to the UNESCO heritage site. simple rooms but you have everything you need when you travel around sri lanka. you can also take a sagari right from the owner. i will really come back soon.
