This hotel is one of the finest hotels in Lao PDR. Located in beautifully kept gardens on the banks of the Mekong. Two beautiful swimming pools, comfortable rooms (beautiufully designed) and a good internet service. Breakfast is a feast and at lunchtime or in the evening you can eat overlooking the Mekong. So beautiful and relaxing! Finally a word about the staff - friendly and helpful - thank you!
Located 8 km from World Heritage Wat Phou, La Folie Lodge offers accommodation overlooking the Mekong River.

What a fabulous hotel; this is a real gem!
The hotel is set in a beautiful location on the banks of the Mekong. The hotel is very well maintained and the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. Sam the manager was delightful and helped us with transfers etc.
we used the bicycles to explore the island and the nearby town of Champasak on the mainland. Where we found two lovely cafes.
The food in the hotel was excellent and there was plenty of choice. There was a nice but basic little restaurant on the island called Mr Mees where we ate a couple of times.
We will definitely return when we visit southern Laos again.
Sadly no fridge in the room; this would have been a nice addition.
We enjoyed the pool area very much but our only gripe was the yoga teacher seemed to conduct her calls on loud speaker in this area which was distinctly irritating for the guests. It would have been nice if she could have considered others!

location was outstanding, bungalow overlooking the wetlands, watching sunrise from bed with doors open to hear the sounds of birds, insects and water buffalow and the pool right on the edge of the wetlands all made for an amazing stay. food was great and the breakfast (included) was wonderful. the staff were so friendly and informative about the area. organized trips from the lodge (trekking and canoe trip) were greatly enjoyed.

An amazing Champasak Spa.
An amazing Champasak Spa. Only a few streets , 2 ATM only, neither work, so make sure you arrive with enough cash on hand for meals and accommodations , and no market to pick up fresh fruit or veggies soft drinks and beer available at all little store fronts. Air was thick with smoke from field and garbage burning.

A very very quiet place with not a lot to do outside of seeing vat thong and cycling around.
However, if you just want to chill for a few days it is a perfect place as it is quiet and the folks are friendly. Local restaurants Home Made and Check in are excellent value. One note: We cut our trip short here due to the smoke. We did not realize that southern Laos is covered in a haze of smoke from burning rice fields through late February to mid april. Not a time to travel here as the "pristine clear air" is no where here at this time.

Most people are coming for Wat Phou which is 100% worth going there, especially in the morning when its not too hot.
There are also lots of temples where sometimes one is alone there. Also some nice restaurants and shops.

3 nights was ideal.
3 nights was ideal. It gave us a day to explore the Champasak Temples and a day to explore the local area. There is a very pretty local walk which takes you through a village, church, school and temple. Everyone was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome.

The peaceful ambience encourages relaxation and the people are helpful and friendly. The proximity to the splendid ruins of Wat Pho is a great bonus - this is a special and atmospheric place and a highlight of a visit to Laos. There's little to actually 'do' but that is part of the charm.
The 3 of us stayed in 2 units- one was the 2 bedroom apartment with a private deck and a hammock overlooking the Mekong where we spent most of our time. The other unit was close by and perfect for our friend. The apartment is great for a couple or a family and was very relaxing, clean and comfortable. The owners and the staff were wonderful. The food and variety of options were amazing..We stayed for 4 nights and other than a memorable visit to Wat Phou we decided to just hang around Champasak and enjoy Nakorn River View. It was a good decision!
There are some very good things about this guesthouse which I would love to highlight, but customer service is not one of them. Incredibly, the family who own and operate this guesthouse thought it was a good idea to hold a surprise 7 hour, drunken karaoke party just a few metres from our door. After several requests to stop they did eventually move a short distance, but the torture continued. I’m not sure how often they host karaoke parties, but I do know that there are several better hotels and guesthouses in town.
Like the small town of Champasak, this is truly a place to relax. Located next to the Mekong, it is perfect to sit outside on your balcony to watch the sunrise or listen to the crickets at night. Rooms are basic, but very clean.
There are some nice restaurants and basic shops on walking distance. You can also rent bikes here, for instance to cycle to Vat Phou.
Host Gilbert was very helpful and helped us out with getting to our next destination.
Nice owners, and Uan (or One, we never did see the spelling - the lady partner) is an excellent cook. We had a big room, overlooking the Mekong. Bicycles available ... you might need to do a bit of mechanical repair, and motorbike rental. In the centre of sleepy Champasak right on the bank of the Mekong, and 10km from Wat Phou. We had a super relaxed stay for a couple of days.
Def one of my favorite hotels in Laos. The view is stunning, the employees are super helpful and so nice. They managed everything for us including a pickup to go the 4000 islands without having us go back to Pakse. The rooms were really clean, big and the beds were super comfy. The pool area and the garden were also amazing. Also, the restaurant was super nice.
The property is located in the Don Daeng island and the hotel picked us up by boat in Champasak in front of the island. We absolutely loved the rides on that small boat across the Mekong River and the views from the hotel. The swimming pool is beautiful and we were very happy to support a hotel with such sustainability and community support standards.
The restaurant area was beautiful with good food, overlooking the Mekong and a lovely garden area. The room was beautifully decorated with a lovely comfortable bed. We hired a motorbike to go to Wat Phou and got a ferry from the hotel’s jetty across the river to catch the Green paradise bus to Si Phan Don. The staff were superbly helpful.
A uniquely located property - only hotel on Don Daeng Island - with traditionally styled accommodation. Lovely views of the river and mountains behind. We had a lovely time with the available bicycles exploring the many quaint little villages that dot the island. Relaxing by the lovely pool in the heat of the afternoon was wonderful.
Where do I start? This property is perfect in every way. Beautiful spacious room overlooking The Mekong, the staff are wonderful and the food delicious. Be sure to wake for the sunrise, it was exceptional. We were sad to leave today, if you find yourself in this part of Laos I highly recommend The River Resort ❤️
Literally on the Mekong & about 30 mins from Pakse. Bkeautiful environment in the historic towkn opf Champasak
We arrived at the resort as travellers & left as friends..
Nothing was a problem.Easily the highlight of our 2 weeks in Southern Laos. The facilities & restaurant are 1st class.
It is a very beautiful hotel in full nature.
I booked two rooms (for me and for the parents of my wife). I ordered the ground floor because the mother is 75y old, but she didn't get it (although the hotel was empty). Also they tried to ask more money than was confirmed on Booking.com.
The hotel is simply amazing. One could consider it a perfect place, yet the incredibly good service makes that amazing place even better. Hard to top that!
The hotel really does try to make every with work and provide everything a guest might request.
Excellent stay in Champasak. Staff was really nice and are the real jewels at Residence Bassac. Breakfast was top and the restaurant serves really nice food. The rooms where nice, clean and big.
