Great location, lovely staff speaking both English and Japanese. I initially booked the dorm but it was quite full and felt stuffy so I upgraded to the treehouse which was great. Super comfortable (although I was there alone so I doubled up the futon and duvets, I wonder if it would be a little less comfortable if used as single)

This small local hotel is nice and comfy. You can experience the local hotel in the little town like you are in the Japanese series.
The room is spacious, bathroom is very new. Staff is very helpful, the nightshift lady cannot speak English but she tried her best to help us park our car nearby. Breakfast is a delicious Japanese set.

Superb service from the staff, especially Ms Yen and Ms Chabani Gopali and the chefs who made us two delicious dinners/breakfast the two nights we were there. Good onsen baths and good fun in the "walking" onsen and outdoor warm pools. Cabin was spacious and very comfortable. A big thank you for a very relaxing stay.

The property is in the countryside but it has a bus-stop which is 6 mins walk away with 2 daily buses that goes to Taketa train station where you can catch the train to Mt. Aso or to Kumamoto. It is really quiet and is connected to an onsen shared for public use. The room is large and comfortable and dinner was local specialties with substantial servings and courses. Free tea and coffee was also available for guests.
The owner was very warm and helpful as we were delayed coming to the property and when we had to depart before breakfast, he made us onigiri to take along for breakfast.

The perfect location for enjoying nature without being too far from the necessary amenities. Incredible, friendly, and accommodating staff onsite to make sure you enjoy your stay and are comfortable for the duration. The tent sauna on the riverbank is not to be missed. Can’t wait to come back to Lodge Kiyokawa!

I think this is the best experience and best 2 nights that we spent in Kyushu. We booked a private log house which has an amazing view of the lovely stream, where we had the opportunity to take a dip in even though it was raining. Imagine waking up to the sound of flowing streams and the birds chirping. Scenery around the lodge was really beautiful with a huge waterfall right in the compound. The hosts recommended we drive to Asaji station and we took a picturesque 12km hike on the Okubungo course where we passed mountains, rice terraces and ended up in a Castle ruin site, then took a train back to Asaji station. Quite lovely and unforgettable!
Lodge Kiyokawa is sort of like camping, or even glamping with sparkling clean rooms and with warm toilet seats even. We saw the cute tree houses and really wanted to stay there! Breakfast was great with all the local ingredients from the region (tasty pumpkin soup and ham) and dinner (with the local Beef and chicken was beyond words). The bonus is the fact that the hosts Yuki and Alex were just so friendly, professional and really went all out to help us when we had issues with our car. Lodge kiyokawa is simply amazing and magical. :) Thank you for making us for happy that we have spent the best 2 days here in Kyushu.
