Salso is a small town, nearest notable towns are Parma and Modena. The surrounding countryside is pretty awesome with castles and cheese/ham factories The town was renowned for it thermal spa baths. Now in 2024 unfortunately the town seems to be a dormitory town, with slightly passe hotels and possibly no spas. The main spa is about to have a major major overhaul and refurbishment, to be completed within the next few years. Work has already started. However, there a some nice shops and cafes, and very good restaurants. The weather was not kind to us and it was damp and cool (April would normally be warm).

I'm not really qualified to answer as I have only made two one-night stays over the past eight years. But what I saw in daylight this Sunday and the information provided by the hotel concerning the thermal spas, have convinced me to return,

Leafy streets, many parks, easy to find your way around the old town; interesting buildings and good cafés. Sad to see so many grand buildings not in use, and the renowned Thermae was closed for renovations. The exhibition of Gabriel Chini was wonderful.

Unfortunately as the hotel owner explained to us, the Italian thermal towns suffered badly during the pandemic when being in close contact was forbidden, this has left its mark, with many large buildings closed and others looking tatty. There are still individual shops trading here, and some restuarants opening, but you can see they are not finding it easy. Also Italy, unlike France or Spain, does not seem to promote rural tourism in the same way, but it needs to reinvent itself now that the situation has changed.

I love Salsomaggiore.
I love Salsomaggiore. This is my third visit and discovered the great Lido.
The Therme itself is amazing and sad that it was closed as I have not yet been inside. Clearly a must in future. The park is delightful and shady and the restaurants friendly.

This is a truly luxurious hotel in a very pretty spa town. A perfect place to rest and recuperate - comfortable, glamorous building and the staff were all very welcoming, charming and helpful. The location in the centre means you can just stroll out into the pretty streets nearby. They arranged airport transfer taxi for several of us back to Milan.
Very friendly and nice owner! Good WiFi. Small internal parking for free. Very good breakfast (a bit more into continental (ham, cheese) than Italian (sweets only), very good coffee!). Room (double bed + small bed) is of smal/medium size, but clean and with everyting you need. It is a historical hotel - ask owner for details.
the room was cool and the two-guy staff were super friendly!! great to warm up in the in-room hot tub. the staff were very accommodating and attentive. facilities in the room were convenient- great to have BOTH a coffee machine and milk frothier (the latter a first for us in Italy). hotel very convenient to the center.
The hotel location next to a lovely park was very quiet and convenient to city center restaurants and shops. The room was spotlessly clean with all the amenities you would need. The warm, welcoming and helpful hospitality of the owners made our stay very special. Thank you so much!
Breakfast was bad 1st morning improved when card tournament in salsomaggiore so more quests when they left dining area was closed and offered very little.I know difficult when only 2 staying in hotel but a lot of times not even hot water to shower .
Our hostess was lovely and did everything she could to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is very good value. The dark chocolate ice cream sold from the store in the main piazza is the stuff of dreams.
Nice atmosphere. Parking is excellent. Space of room is great.
Furniture is very good. Interior is nice.
Check-in 24hrs outstanding for our late arrival.
Breakfast is country side and offers variety of choices; good quality.
Very quite place
Great view at sunrise time, we missed the sunset!
Thanks to the couples who were managing the hotel, they were very kind and hospitable.
Home made food cant be better than anything.
Many thanks
Good beds and large room, very good breakfast with homemade pastries. A Typical family hotel with friendly staff. Short walking distance (5 min.) to the citycentre with nice bars and restaurants/pizzerias.
The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was a fantastic addition and had lots of options.
The room was large and clean and overall we thought this hotel made a great pitstop.
We really enjoyed our stay. The welcome was very friendly and service oriented. Jacuzzi was great and we also liked the different in-room dinner options the hotel is able to provide.
