It’s within walking distance of Spartan race. The price for the services they offered was surprisingly affordable.
Luxury House In The Hills offers accommodations in Sparta, one mile from Mystras and 6.1 miles from Leonida's Statue. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking, and free Wifi.
Very friendly and polite people. Excellent street plan, wide boulevards with trees, several little museums and old mansions near the center of the city. Walking in the deserted byzantine city/fortress of Mystras, adjacent to the city, offers a unique experience. Sparta can serve as the base for exploring many interesting places in Laconia, including the town/fortress of Monemvasia (Gibraltar of Greece, 87 km) and the nice port of Gytheion (43 km),

Lovely little town with no shortage of cafes, bars, restaurants, and small businesses of all kinds. Super view of the mountains. Walking distance to everything including ancient ruins an the statue of King Léonidas, shirt drive or bike ride to Mystras (look it up!) and about 40 minutes to Gytheio/beaches. Don't forget the olive oil, figs, pomegranates, and oranges.

There's much more to see than expected, according to previous reviews. In common with the rest of Greece, the signage is poor: you have to be determined to find your way up to the acropolis, just imagine! A really good visit. An excellent day in Mystras, a place not to be hurried.

The must-see in Sparti is Mystras site: beautiful byzantine churches with magnificent frescos, an old castle on top of the hill and the palaces of glorious byzantine families (unfortunately those last ones not visitable at the time of our visit due to works). Mystras is 6 min drive from Sparti.
For the rest, the ancient agora is worth a visit (still under excavation), Leonidas statue, Leonidas tomb and the area around the Central Square, with a few nice restaurants and cafés.
The hidden gem in this city is the Olive and Olive Oil Museum - really worth visiting!

Sparti has a small city center and limited attractions and thus a limited nightlife. Sparti’s greatest attraction is that it is literally right next to the stunning physical landscape of the Taegetos mountain range. Unfortunately, this incredible landscape has not been developed. Sparti has a strong sports/athletics culture. I believe that it would greatly benefit the city’s tourism industry to market the Taegetos mountain range to Sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Exploring the Taegetos by a hiking foot path or by mountain bike would be an awesome experience for any traveller and it would greatly enhance the international image of the city as an athletic tourist attraction.

Besides being in a beautiful location (mountains on one side, hills and olive groves on the other), Sparta was a big enough town to have lots of restaurant options, but not so major that it was overrun with visitors. The Museum of the Olive & Olive Oil is really interesting and robust, and the archaeological museum & acropolis are definitely worth the visit. The archaeological museum is small, but has a really beautiful collection including many coins. The acropolis has a few buildings to look at (including a large ancient theater), but is especially worth the visit for the views at the top.
Sparta is a great location for day trips, but its a nice city to come back to because it's got a life of it's own separate from it's tourism. You definitely can drive around Sparta, but we walked everywhere (nothing was further than 20 minutes away) and saved driving for leaving the city. When I return to the Peloponnesian Peninsula, I would stay in Sparta again as a central location.
We have been on a 2 week trip in Greece, and otherwise staying in hotels. It was just great to have a ‘place of our own’ in a great location right in the middle of our holiday. There was a proper fridge, a dining table with chairs, and facilities for doing washing. And we were close to the centre of town. On day 2 it rained all day, so the apartment was a comfortable place to read books and just relax. On the other days we walked to see the ancient sites of Sparta (especially acropolis) and Byzantine city of Mystra. We loved it.
Laconian Collection ''Anesis'' is a very good choice of stay in Sparta.
Excellent location in the heart of the city!
No need to use the car anymore once you arrive there.
But if you use the car, do visit the castle of Mystras! And the picturesque harbor of Gythio!
Plus:
The apartment is spacious and comfortable (hence the "Anesis") and very well maintained.
There is plenty of storage space, the small kitchen is fully equipped and working, everything you would expect is there.
The location is great if you are a mountain lover and the last 7km of the road is bound to have several curves. You will get rewarded with plenty of hiking paths, from short to longer ones. The village of Anavriti where this property is located is nice and the people are friendly. There are also 2 nice family restaurants (tavernas).
Less than 10Km away is the city of Sparta and the Archaelogical site of Mistras if you feel like you need some more diversity of activities.
Perfectly located in a quiet but stunning mountain village with snow capped peaks in the near distance. Fresh air and solitude, just what I needed. Apartment was spacious and clean, charming and cozy. The hosts Perikles and Vaso are the most loving and caring hosts I’ve come across so far in Greece. I found and adopted a beautiful puppy who was abandoned in the village making this a memorable and magical stay… and they helped with all of it. I will of course be back!
Cosy little house in a very quiet and peaceful village. The hosts were great in communicating, when we needed the heating, they sorted it out immediately. Great place to rest, have a quiet time, surrounded by nature. Keys in the key box, easy to get. Only 12km to Sparti, we came for Spartan Championship so it was very conveniente. Comfortable beds, we appreaciated the apples, oranges and sweets.
This property was perfect!! Spacious and very clean and decorated with such cute details. The apartment was equipped with anything you could every need for either a long or short stay. Great location close to the center of Sparta, easily walkable to everything. Our host was amazing, great communication and helpful. Highly recommend you stay at the Spartan Penthouse!!!
The was a great apartment; spotlessly clean, with all the amenities and a large comfy bed. The host, Epaminondas, was a gentleman who was always accessible, very knowledgeable and willing to help coordinate your stay in Sparti and make it as comfortable as possible. I recommend this apartment to anyone that is looking to use Sparti as a base to explore Laconia.
The gentleman on reception was fantastic. He upgraded us for a better room for free. The parking by the hotel was also included. Our room had a lot of space and great views from balconies. The breakfast was very nice too. We really enjoyed our stay and even got a nice gift from the hotel when checking out! We sincerely recommend to stay here when in Sparta.
The internet speeds were consistently very fast, namely 70-71 Mbps. This was the best we have encountered anywhere in Greece. We loved both of the pools, too. One is chlorinated and one is a saltwater pool. And the room interiors are charming. The air conditioning was very quiet and worked well.
Very nice apartment, quite and clean.
Pepi is a warm and kind host, she helped us with many tips and information, with a smile and willingness.
Parking is inside the private yard. Locaion is good - quite road within nice walking distance to the main avenue and the Sparti main square.
This is an outstanding base to visit Sparti and Mystras. Everything you could possibly want is provided, and everything is to the highest standard. The hosts are so charming and we had fresh produce from the garden. There is a grove of very old olive trees alongside.
Family feeling. It was like being at home! Good space for our group of 4 adults. Owener gave us transportation to and from bus station. Location very convenient for walking around Sparta. It was very close to the site of Ancient Sparta.
Perfect apartment for exploring SW Peloponnesus! Full kitchen allowed me to prepare my own meals. Balcony had a peaceful view to enjoy my morning coffee. Evening walks through central Sparta was a great way to end each day.
Extremely good hotel with wonderful view of the mountains from the balcony and overlooking the park. Large room, very good breakfast and helpful and kind staff with early check-in etc. Good shower also!
Parking place for guests, very kind welcome with coffee (Nikos), very good breakfast, good location.
Clean, neat hotel with a sense of inner beauty.
Absolute good value for the money.
