The ideal location to visit local attractions walks a popular stop to move onto board a ferry for the Orkney islands and trips further afield.

Fabulous breakfast will all local produce, especially the black pudding. I ate at the Park every evening and the food was delicious. The room was large, clean and had a great wet room type shower.

Hotel position and friendly staff were good, but the online description of the hotel and facilities was not accurate. Very disappointing.
- room not serviced for three days
- initial room smelly and mouldy
- had to ask for soap and toilet paper
- advertised food items for breakfast not provided
- bath leaked
- no phone in room

Some of the best place to eat in UK.
Some of the best place to eat in UK. Outdoors is its selling point, if King Charles III has a holiday retreat nearby it must be the best in the World. Winter nights are dark and cold with limited night life.

We used Thurso as a jumping off and landing point for the Orkney islands. I wish we had more time in the Thurso area as I believe there is much more to explore. And don't miss the Sri Lankan restaurant in town!! your dinner may take awhile but that's because it is being cooked up fresh.

Thurso is a town that has seen better days, but most people are going to Thurso to visit John O Groats or to catch a ferry, rather than for the town itself. We stayed out of season so did not visit the beach. We enjoyed our walk to Dunnet Head, and spent our 2nd day visiting John O Groats and Wick. We recommend the Thurso Visitor centre / Museum (free entry, but donatiion requested)

The house is rather dark and drab.
The house is rather dark and drab. The pictures make it look much lighter. It was good for one night. It can be difficult to find somewhere which allows just one night. There was food in the freezer, and sheets in the dryer when we arrived. That was a bit odd. Otherwise, a good location, easy to find. Fine for one night.
Our expectations were not high….this was the cheapest hotel for our tour of Scotland….we had enjoyed one excellent hotel but the night before this hotel, we had a poor experience. I arrived expecting the worse. The staff advised us to park at th3 back, near the door to the hotel as I said we were old and creaky. Our chalet was immaculate. The shower room great, two very comfy beds. We had supper at the hotel and breakfast, which was the best yet!
I could tell this place is run by a eco minded WOMAN! I noticed how the tea bags were compostable She and her staff are stewards of the planet. We should all follow her lead. I would have bought one of the bird boxes in the hallway. The entry way has loads of great information for around the area off the beaten path. Thank you for caring about the future. I would call you an evo conscious hotel and of course run by a woman. Applause.
Mark and Trish are very caring and evidently enjoy running their B&B. They were very accommodating of me cycling and provided safe storage for my bike. After my one night staying there, I cycled from there to John O'Groats and back towards Tongue - they kindly looked after my 2 heavy panniers whilst I did this.
Very big, nicely furnished room. Best variety of breakfast options I've seen in North of Scotland.
Lovely cozy cottage, great host, who had coffee and gave us information on the area, locals very friendly, great place to explore and try a little sea fishing off the rocks.
I'd you want silence rainbows and comfort I would recommend this place we hope to revisit next June
Two log burning fires provide ample heat all day if you can't be bothered with the fires there is also toast radiators
The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was large and delicious. We had vegetarian bacon, sausage, ham, along with scrambled eggs to our liking (we like dry eggs). But above all, Trish and Mark are very fine hosts. Mark gave us great ideas of things to go see, and both are great conversationalists. We will return to them if good fortune finds us in the Thurso area again.
Everyone at the hotel made us feel welcome and extra little touches in the rooms also ensured we were comfortable. Walking distance to the station. Great breakfast and dinner menu. The owners were very easy going, allowing us to leave luggage while we traveled to Orkney for a few days, and provided a comfy lounge to spend a few hours before our train.
Since our last visit to the Pentland Hotel, they have completed quite a bit of refurbishments, leaving the hotel much more modern and nice. The hotel was very clean and had everything you would need in your room. We booked to travel with our dog and they had left a dog bowl and treats for her. The breakfast is very nice and consistently refreshed.
Pleasant driveway to the property. Overlooks the River Forss and water falls. Undoubtedly an interesting country house hotel with nearby old cottage premises tastefully decorated to a high standard. Loved the array of old clocks adorning the tartan carpeted stairs and hallway. Ample parking with a good breakfast. Short drive away from Thurso.
Not much. Probably leaving was the best thing I liked! The other travellers I met was the good thing about being here. The Italian couple who came from Italy on a bike, Australian man, and German man. Its a shame came to Scotland and stayed here. It gives other travellers a bad view of our country.
The location was fantastic, overlooking the sea and close to the beach. The rooms were basic but clean and good value for money. The food in the restaurant was a bit expensive for what you got but the beer was cheap and the staff were friendly. Would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
Great location in Thurso, close to the town and plenty of dining options nearby. Clean and comfortable room and the hotel is on a quiet street. Really friendly staff at the hotel, happy to recommend things to see and do and also cook a cracking breakfast in the morning.
We realized that Thurso is a great location for trips to the north and that's why we extended our stay twice here. It is a very spacious apartment with the main amenities you may need. Friendly and helpful owner, too. Really enjoyed our 3-days here. Thank you.
What an amazing place. Cannot fault this at all. Spotlessly clean. Great hosts, and the best breakfast on our NC500 journey.Best nights sleep of the stay. Great location.
Highly recommended, and we will definitely revisit here. 10/10.
Spacious, warm, good food, very helpful owner and staff. Very obliging and went out of their way to help. We had not intended to stay in Thurso bit the ferry was cancelled. Found this hotel and would definitely return.
The room was spacious and had lovely big windows. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the station and the main shopping area and beach in Thurso. The food in the hotel restaurant was very good.
Comfortable stopover in chalet behind the main hotel. Facilities all a bit tired though staff friendly & welcoming. Had tasty evening meal in the hotel as very few places open in Thurso on a Sunday night.
Great location, comfortable and clean. Great for a group, family or friends. Comfortable shared areas of the kitchen and living room. The cottage was well decorated. Would stay here again.
Located on NC500 route the hotel is perfect choice for overnight stay. Next to Thurso beach walk path to enjoy spectacular view . 10 min walk from local Lidl shop.
