The Pier walk was great and visit to the lifeboat at the end. We also loved 'Beaches' Restaurant and the 'Oyster Kitchen' We loved walking along the coast both ways. Leigh on Sea had some super little independent boutiques; "Ruby's" for one and an amazing boutique called "A Touch Too Wild" where the owner could give Gok Wan a run for his money! Southend is great for walking or there is an open topped bus - we just walked until we found somewhere lovely to stop for a rest; we had "Elevenses at The Oyster Creek Kitchen, then 'put the steps in' browsed the boutiques in Leigh on Sea and then enjoyed great food at an Italian Bistro which served superb food! Our Guest House had its own parking and was convenietly situated beteeen Leigh on Sea and Southend itself. We stated for three nights and feel completely refreshed!

I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead.
In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.
Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)
Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again.
It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

Fantastic location, right on the beach. The area around the hotel is very nice, several cafes / restaurants for breakfast and dinner, off license shop about 7 min walk. There is also a very nice park with large playground nearby. The beach is not overcrowded (like other areas in Southend), very enjoyable. Our room was on the ground floor but we still could see the sea :) the room has nice furniture, fridge, bathroom has toiletries, everything looks new. Staff very nice and helpful.
The location was ideal in a very nice area of Southend. Was very impressed with the high standard of hygene. The room and all areas of the hotel were absolutely spotless. All of the staff that I dealt with were so polite and helpful that it made the whole experience a joy. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellant. Loved the decor in the bar and dining room areas.
Would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return when visiting my family again in Southend.
The staff in the hotel were lovely. The landlady (I believe) was very attentive and made sure to check everything was up to my expectations, by asking how dinner and breakfast were. Though I was the only guest in for dinner the night I stayed, the lady kept popping back into the bar / restaurant. I wasn't constantly questioned if everything was ok, but I know she kept coming back through into the bar to ensure I wasn't left waiting for another drink etc.
staff were very helpful. big room. very clean. everything in room was in good condition. phoned in advance to request an an-suite with full bath, Spoke with Laura, who was extremely helpful. room with full bath was all ready on our arrival. located right in the centre of town. lots of shops and restaurants very close by. an easy 5 minute walk to seafront
Hotel was lovely and clean, staff were really friendly and polite. Room cleaning staff were very friendly and polite. Great veiw of airport. Easy enough to get the bus to seafront, bus stop very close to hotel. Great retail park across the road. When visiting Southend again will definitely stay at the Holuday Inn.
The hotel was pleasant, though dated and in need of some TLC it is very convenient for the main attractions , seafront, restaurants and shops. The availability of water and fresh fruit in the lobby. The hotel is also within walking distance to both Southend train stations.
Was a lovely ensuite hotel room in a nice hotel not too far from the pier head and main seafront attractions (about a 15 minute walk) with nice views from the hotel and a nice bar area too. Would definitely go back again.
Centrally located , right on the seafront , quiet and walking distance to a few restaurants . Laura was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great . We would definitely stay there again . Thank you . A&L
